Cindy Barshop

Cindy Barshop is the owner of  Completely Bare, the upscale Madison Avenue medi-spa known for its cutting-edge, results-oriented treatments. A favorite among magazine editors and in-the-know New Yorkers, Completely Bare has become one of the most popular spa destinations in New York City. Cindy Barshop is proud of the reputation she has built and maintained for her company, which is that of a unique facility focused on personal attention and advanced skin care andhair removal treatments.

The business began as a result of Cindy’s own personal desire to find the ultimate hair-removal technique. A graduate of Farleigh Dickinson University with a Bachelor of Science in marketing, Barshop was working in telecommunications for IBM when she uncovered Epilight, a photo epilation system that uses light to permanently remove hair. Frustrated at how long it took her to find such an amazing machine, she became determined to make hair removal easily accessible to people like her, who crave expert service in a comfortable spa environment. Her uptown day spa, Completely Bare, opened its doors in 1998.

Overnight, Completely Bare became an instant hit. Men and women were both drawn to its cutting-edge spa concept, spa-tology, a combination of personalized, luxurious spa treatments and results-oriented methodology. By using the most advanced technology available, Completely Bare provides treatments that show results almost immediately. The buzz surrounding Completely Bare was so great that people outside New York City began traveling to Manhattan just for treatments. To accommodate the demands of these customers, Completely Bare opened its second location in Scarsdale, New York, in July 2000, and then followed that with a third on Fifth Avenue in 2002 and a fourth in Barneys in 2003. The demand for more of Completely Bare has been so overwhelming that Barshop opened a fifth location in Palm Beach, Florida, in April 2006.

Cindy Barshop has never lost sight of her original vision, which is to make accessible treatments and technologies that are in demand but not always easily found. She never forgets that she is, after all, a customer herself. Completely Bare’s product line is a direct result of this vision. The line began with Completely Buff, an at-home microdermabrasion powder that Barshop knew would be a hit with customers who like to keep up their exfoliation in between spa trips. In 2002, Completely Bare introduced Solar Shield SPF pads and Bikini Bump Blaster pads, which instantly gained a cult following among beauty junkies.      Completely Bare locations: 304 South County Road, Palm Beach 561.837.9595; 103 Fifth Ave, NYC; 764 Madison Ave; NYC, Barneys New York; Scarsdale, NY

From BravoTV:

From revolutionizing hair removal with nationwide cult favorite Completely Bare spas and beauty products, to playing mom, Cindy Barshop’s glamorous life is an exercise in multi-tasking. The hair removal guru and happy single mother attributes her success to honesty, dedication and a belief that with enough hard work anything is possible. With so much on deck, Cindy still makes time for the things she loves: re-vamping her West Village condo, dining downtown, weekendsin the Hamptons, and most of all, spending time with her twin girls.

Completely Bare Spas very non nyc. I was hired to work in one, THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF. BUT MSBARSHOP AND HER BROTHER WERE RESPECTFUL AND PROFESSIONAL. Their HR person was on her blackberry during most of our training sessions because she was buying a new car. I knew right then and there, oh heck no! AND NONE OF THE EMPLOYEES ARE A DAY OVER 35, the clientele was very young , all looked like they were from Long Island, I was horrified having lived in the flatiron district for over 10 years. And i was flat out told, my male ( gay ) friends were not welcome in the salon!!!! seriously. Good Luck. Great concept, but should really be in jersey or long island, NOT AN SOPHISTICATED NYC SALON AT ALL.

nycgirl, Maybe that’s why Cindy didn’t participate in the Marriage Equality March. She still looks like Steven Tyler.

This woman looks like a vicious dog ….ready to attack you.
She has not good manners….she’s mean looking….domineering 2.

    • nycgirl: So, CBare specializes in women-only hair removal… were any men permitted to use their services, or were only openly gay men excluded from CBare? What were you instructed to do if a gay man came in for services? Is CBare as successful as mentioned/portrayed on RHONY? Interesting that the staff is all under 35, which means that CBare goes more for style than substance or experience. Thanks for commenting! SH

NYCgirl, Do you mean that refused to service gay men? That’s not a very wise business move. Or is it that they didn’t want friends of employees ‘hangin out” in the salon chit chatting with employees and yours just happened to be gay? I expect the clientele to be very young. Who the heck ever heard of a bedazzled middle aged hoo-ya? Like putting a chandelier up in a mobile home I would say. Heck I aint no young chick either but I am comfortable enough in my own skin to allow my bare lady part to stand on its own merit no decoration necessary. :)

I like Cindy. She seems to be like a lot of women. Single mother, trying to make it in this economy. I like that she is nice to people but at the same time she does not seem to feel the need to like or dislike any of the women. She stand for herself. I think her reaction to Ramona’s rudeness to her brother and to her at this weeks party was approp. Who comes to a party and wants THEIR wine NOW. Say hello first, let the host know you are happy to be there.

Cindy Barshop and her brother are VERY RUDE PEOPLE.
These people don’t belong on television.I was watching some of the episodes and i noticed that Cindy she has NOT GOOD MANNERS.
1st The way Ramona was treated on the b/day party from Cindy’s brother, girlfriend and Cindy 2.
2nd The way she spoke (Cindy) spoke to Sonia Morgan in Marocco.
3rd The way she (Cindy) treats the ”father” of the babies….very bossy…domineering….and also her brother left without speaking to the guy.

I cannot fathom that Cindy Barshop is as successful as Bravo, Kelly, Jill, etc. claim. She just doesn’t seem bright enough. I see what others say about her domineering and rude ways by watching how she treated her brother and the father of her children in their brief appearances on the show. In separate scenes, she treated them both like cr@p and spoke to them as if they were the most stupid people on Earth. Each of those guys got the exact same look on their face when she sharply emasculated them, in front of the camera, and completely unprovoked. She did it to her brother in her kitchen and she did it to the kids’ father in their nursery. They both instantly got a look of unabashed disbelief and shock on their face. I have seen that look before. It was the same look that was on Robert Kardashian’s face as he turned toward OJ, seconds after the words “not guilty” were read.

Cindy seems like a real moron. She’s dull at the very least and I always mute when she is on the screen.
