“Jodi Arias is charged in the June 2008 stabbing and shooting death of her lover in his suburban Phoenix home. Arias claims self-defense, while authorities say she planned the attack on Travis Alexander in a jealous rage. Testimony has been ongoing since early January.
Arias, 32, lost a bid last week aimed at getting a reprieve from a potential death sentence if convicted of first-degree murder after the Arizona Supreme Court swiftly denied her motion that claimed a detective committed perjury in the case. Her attorneys have filed multiple motions for mistrials, all of which have been denied.
Last week, prosecutor Juan Martinez hammered Arias with intense questioning about her inability to recall crucial details in the case, yet noted it was puzzling that she can remember “what kind of coffee you bought at Starbucks sometime back in 2008.”
Arias first told authorities she knew nothing about Alexander’s death, then later blamed it on masked intruders before eventually settling on self-defense.
She said she was scared of being arrested, had been contemplating suicide and didn’t want to sully Alexander’s name with accounts of his violent behavior and lurid details of their sexual relationship, given his public persona as a devout Mormon who was saving himself for marriage.
Of the day she killed Alexander, Arias says she remembers him in a rage, body slamming her and chasing her around his home.
She said she grabbed a gun from his closet, and fired it as they tussled, but didn’t know if she hit him. She had no explanation for the 27 stab and slash wounds he suffered, or his slit throat, or how he ended up stuffed in his shower.
According to court records, however, she previously told police before her trial began that Alexander was unconscious after she shot him, but then “crawled around and was stabbed.”
She says she remembers putting a knife in the dishwasher and disposing of the gun in the desert as she drove from Arizona on her way to Utah. And she immediately began planning an alibi.
Arias’ grandparents reported a .25 caliber handgun stolen from their Northern California house about a week before the killing – the same caliber used to shoot Alexander – but Arias claims to know nothing about the burglary. She says she brought no weapons to Alexander’s home on the day she killed him, undercutting the prosecution’s theory of premeditation.”
What is so disturbing is how absolutely cold and calm Jodi Arias is when answering questions on the stand! How does Jodi smirk and smile when talking about a person who was killed.. and Jodi killed Travis!
I’m very late to the game on this one, but I have a few thoughts on it already. They sound like they had an intense sexual (sometimes fantasy-induced) relationship. He didn’t sound like a religious mormon. I’m perplexed at how she’s smiling and smirking. I’m perplexed at how she spoke with love and kindness in her past interviews about him. I’ve had 2 relationships that began on good terms to begin with and then they both ended in abuse, and I wouldn’t be smiling or remembering them fondly. I’d remember the turn of the relationship and the bad ending. So, that part makes me question her mental state. If she killed him, why have fond memories?? Yet, she’s very well-spoken and intelligent. The attorney seems almost to be indulging himself in ALL of this testimony, when it could be simply categorized as them having a healthy sexual relationship to begin with, that went bad. Why is there SO much testimony about the sexual part??????????
Why so much about the sex? Because her defense is he was a pedophile .. SPECIFICALLY for little boys(no proof of this) and she had this secret on him and got violent with her after she caught him masturbating to pictures(hard copies) of little boys yet ZERO porn was found in his home of phone or computer.
She is lying about the whole thing,
About the religious Mormon thing, I see it as him being no different than a catholic or baptist or a holiness or a pentecostal who fornicates. Its against the teachings but it does happen. Kinda a normal thing and one can still have relationship with God or whatever. This is also ANOTHER way she is trying to kill him again in the courtroom. His very personal relationship with God being questioned.
She is well spoken for a high school drop out(so she could move in with a boyfriend after her dad dared to ground her one time) but yet she tries to play stoopid when the questions get too close to uncovering the truth about this succubus..
MP: Ahh…….. sounds all too familiar to me with the trial my family just endured. However, those accusations could have been brought to light or dismissed without painfully detailing their sexual relationship. All it did was expose them both as having a mutual sexual relationship. The pedophile stuff can be dismissed if she had no proof. Did she admit to killing him or is the 48 Hours story what she’s sticking to? I’m just very offended at the details of their sexual relationship to the point where he’s trying to mortify her (which didn’t work b/c she’s distanced). What was the point? So, they had a sexual relationship. That wouldn’t discount him possibly being a pedophile or even being sexually deviant. I’m NOT saying that I believe her, but I think this trial is ridiculous.
Trust me he was NOT a pedophile. Yes she is admitting that she killed him. Claiming amnesia for the stabbing part but claims self defense. But vivid memory of grabbing his gun(that he didnt have) in a split second off the extremely neat shelf of his closet-tippy top shelf Right before she made the trip down her grandmother(who she lived with ) reported her gun stolen-same caliber as the gun used to shoot Travis. She is insisting that jurors believe that she never took that gun to his house. No gun had been recovered and she wandered around in the desert after the killing(Still foggy memory on exactly where-for good reason) If the pedophile stuff is to be believed one would have to also believe Jodi when she talks about STILL wanting to have children with him.
I agree the sex was normal consensual sex. The ONLY reason the prosecutor is talking about it is that Jodi’s attorney brought it up trying to prove that Travis was a sexual deviant because of things like wanting her to dress up in a maid costume(normal stuff and certainly NOT the sort of fantasy costume that a pedophile would come up with) Cause face it, Jodi is not a very feminine looking person even with the breast implants she COULD pass as a lil boy. If he was into lil boys then he could have asked her to put her hair up in a ball cap no make up ect ect. She made the whole thing up even the fact that he knew she was recording that call. She knows he cant testify otherwise.
Ahh, that makes some sense. I have no knowledge of how pedophiles behave, or if they could possibly be attracted to women also, so I’m at a loss to answer that part. She DOES remind me of our nephew’s wife, who murdered him, and then claimed she “couldn’t recall” the actual murder or the hours thereafter, yet she began to recall about a year later. She also claimed abuse (which they dismissed b/c there was absolutely no evidence) and even peophilia (which wasn’t even allowed in court b/c that couldn’t be proven either). What gets me is that we really don’t know what went on with anyone behind their closed doors. I’ve certainly learned that people keep secrets and we never know the “full picture”. So for friends and people to call Travis such an angel, doesn’t do his side any favors. It opens up the other side to proving otherwise. It’s all too close to home, with our nephew’s murder and with my abuse background. If she’s guilty, I’d wish she’d spend the rest of her life in jail.
He is no angel just a normal 30 sumpin year old man from what I see and certainly is not the pedophilic monster she made him out to be. even her abuse claims are bull chit. An aggressive hug and an apology. The judge never should have allowed her pedopilia claim either since there is no proof of that only the word of his killer who lies about everything. But they had to let it in because its part of her defense AND its death penalty case. I hope she gets the death penalty but another inmate dispatches of her (Dahmer style)before the tax payers have to spend one more red cent on her three hits and a cot.

At first glance it would appear that the prosecutor is “rabid” BUT given her very irritating manner of answering questions with her “hyper-literal”(her term) minutia and her desperate need to have other listen to her elaborate dissertations on any and every topic that comes up its understandable, the prosecutors irritation. Jodi made a comment on direct that her parents didn’t really encourage her art in school. I do believe that. She prolly has suffered a lifetime of being ignored because to pay attention to her if only for a bit is crazy-making. So psychologically speaking what it boils down to is Travis was the last man that she was ever gonna let cast her aside.. a pattern that started with her perception of her parents treatment on down the line to every male that ever had any dealing with her. After this last sex session with the pop-up surprise visit from Jodi(she is the only one alive to say he guilted her into coming down-the truth is he prolly didn’t care whether she came, laid,stayed or prayed) was headed to Cancun with another girl that he had romantic interest in. And Travis was not gonna turn down easy noookie regardless of how mangled it was. So he had sex with her and was prolly like “you dont gotta go home but you cant stay here”

You know Done…I was blushing along side all my dead grandmothers listening to testimony today, but then it dawned on me that i was most embarassed by listening to her recorded (premeditated) phone calls. I had to think that she had been so hurt in the past that made her think….well the next relationship i am gonna have all this set up to blackmail a man if he doesn’t go along with my plan…..just a first time observation. The prosecutor has to show she is not innocent…..

Hi Done…I was reading your comment about Jodi looking like a decent kind of person? Have you seen the earlier pictures of her? The ones where she has blonde hair not brown. No glasses. Dressed a lot looser than what she is wearing in court..She has totally changed her appearance to make herself look like a plain down to earth little sweet mormon girl.(no offence to mormon girls) It is so typical of a person like her who lies about everything to also be fake in her appearance. I always felt that most juries when they hear one lie they tend to not believe anything said after that. If they don’t convict her I would like to have a drug test done on all of them.LoL…Because no way could a sober person not convict her! Just my opinion of course…
No, I haven’t seen them. I’m not surprised though. Our nephew’s murderer (his wife) had 2.5 years from the murder til her trial, to change her appearance and make herself more pitiful. I swear, the attorney sent her away to lose a ton of weight and let her hair go grey, to garner more sympathy!

If she killed him, “donewithbravo” she admitted she killed him but she’s saying she doesn’t remember stabbing him 29 times…there is a very good reason for all this sexual part. She’s pretending to be an emotional battered woman but the truth is she was not wife material and they broke up but were still having sex and she knew he had moved on but decided if she couldn’t have him no one would and she set him up and slaughtered him. She deserves the death penalty.
I agree Donewithbravo, I just recently ended my marriage of 16 years b/c my soon-to-be-ex became, IMO, mentally ill. I believe he is a paranoid schizophrenic (but he won’t seek help so he has never been officially diagnosed). I was with him since HS and we had a wonderful, happy, healthy, loving relationship in the beginning, but in the past 2 1/2 years he has become a completely different person who was verbally abusive to me and the kids. I do not speak or think back fondly on the early years b/c the recent 2 years of abuse are too raw. I thought the same thing when she said she thought he had great potential and she wrote in his memorial book that “he was a beautiful person inside & out.” I would NEVER say that about my ex, I don’t care how great things were in the beginning. All I see is the POS abuser he is today. She is full of shit.

there is so much testimony because when the defense questioned her she painted him as the sole sexual predator and herself as some sort of victim. martinez is refuting that by playing the conversations where she initiated conversations and implied that she liked it. totally different then she claimed during the defense examination. also, all of the 48 hours interviews are showing all of the lies shes told since the day she stabbed him.
The whole thing is ridiculous. She went back for more countless times. She willfully participated in everything. She was not some poor battered housewife with no job or kids. There is no way their sex life is a defense. She even said he was violent on previous occasions, yet she was back letting him tie her up after that. I would never let a man tie me up, especially a violent pedophile ..

Why does the media think the jury wants to hurry up and get to the murder. The prosecution is trying to prove premeditation with the rental car are they not? I’m loving Juan Martinez. The jurors have seen more than they bargained for and how much longer this continues is anybody’s guess. The jurors had to bored out of their minds until Juan woke them up.

If you would have seem her performance on the stand the day HER attorney played the entire phone sex tape you would see what a show she puts on….when it suits her. Just like her over the top pretending to have an orgasm on that phone call… there is copies of the whole thing on youtube. I feel like she taped that call to use as blackmail on him for when he dumped her and moved on because she is soo calculating bringing up past things that they had done. But there was ONE spice of info on there she didnt count on…. And there was testimony about some little boy spidey britches that he supposedly bought her(phantom undies no where to be found now conveniently) Yet on that tape in the last 10 minutes (after the orgasm bidnus) he specifically says “I am not a fan of spiderman” When I heard that the hair on the back of my neck stood up. He found a way to testify against her in court with respect to this lie was my thought. No one(lawyers or commentators) has made much of this but to me it was HUGE.

Did anyone else notice that when the prosecuter was asking her about the knife, he was talking about her saying that it was on the nightstand in the bedroom, but i remember that when the DEFENSE attorney was asking her about the killing she said in an offhand way that Travis used a knife in the bathroom to cut the rope. I remember this because when she said that i thought right away “well okay, that’s how she explains having a knife handy in the bathroom”. I was very surprised that she didn’t today say “No, the knife was in the bathroom, that is where Travis cut the rope”, because this crazy slut pretty much corrects and clarifies every single thing that the prosecutor says.
Ya, but she said herself today that she couldn’t remember her lies, or “keep her story straight”. I think that right there was an admission. A defendant admitting to telling lies should be an easy conviction.
Talking about the knife and mentioning it as an aside during her defense attorney’s questioning was planned and practiced, she has “explained” all of the evidence against her, and every time the prosecutor says anything that deviates even the tiniest bit from what she has already testified to, she corrects him (ie he says Travis hit you in the side of the jaw, she says no he was trying to hit my jaw but it was more near the neck area), so when he said “nightstand” as the location of the knife i fully expected her to say that it was in the bathroom because she had already testified to that. Also, when she said that she couldn’t keep her stories straight, she was referring to her many stories, interviews, and tv appearances , not her testimony on the stand.
I know she was referring to her previous lies in interviews. But that doesn’t matter, because they played those lies in court for all to hear. Those lies are now evidence.
I think Martinez contradicts her, she “corrects” him, and Martinez proves, with her own words, that she’s lying and prevents her from explaining away more of her b-s. He proves she’s lying before she realizes it. I just hope the jury is paying attention.

Those pictures are more disturbing than the autopsy photos. I think she took those photos to have a reminder of how he looked as she told him her plans or started to kill him.
