In an interview given to the MiamiHerald, Fembot and Miami Housewife, Lisa Hochstein tells why her Star Island house should be demolished… it’s a damn DUMP!!
Leonard and Lisa Hochstein — he, a plastic surgeon known as “The Boob God,” and she, a cast member of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Miami — bought the mansion at a foreclosure auction in late 2012. It has been at the center of a dispute with preservationists almost since then.
On Sunday, they opened the home for the first time to reporters.
“We bought this house with the intention of building our dream home. If we knew this was going to happen, we would have never purchased this home,” Lisa Hochstein said.
At least that’s what Lisa says!
Just leads one to ask why in the world would Lisa’s husband, Dr. Lenny, have purchased the house at auction in the first place? Maybe ’cause Lenny bein’ a partner in StarIslandFinancial has something to do with it??

Will Tamballs get the Bravo wedding she wants?? OR… Is Ellie stalling? OR… Does MissAndy have other plans for Ellie? Perhaps a spin-off of his own???

If you are at all interested… Cynthia Bailey’s BravoBlog is now available. Cynthia uses six pages to “thank” everyone involved in her pay-to-be-in-the-crappy-pageant fabulous Renaissance show.
Kenya Moore’s BravoBlog is also available at Bravo.com… that is, if you’re interested in the RHOA…

SUPPOSEDLY… it is RUMORED… many are saying… that the RHOBH is being recast. Well, isn’t that the RUMOR every damn year!? AND… the very same names for potential Housewifery are being mentioned AGAIN! Perhaps the yearly “rumors” would be better believed if the names Jennifer Stallone and Brenda Richey were omitted from the “inside source” info!
Speakin’ of potential RHOBH cast members… LeAnn Rimes is supposedly pregnant.
However, EOnline says it ain’t true! We’re givin’ this one a big old Ken!
However… having LeAnn as a Beverly Hills Housewife would be a great idea!!!

We are taking a break from these dumbazz Housewives for a few seconds… to bring you REAL information re REAL things happening in the REAL world!
To ease the shock of dealing with items from the REAL world… this one is re the Academy Awards, which is being held this Sunday. The new producers of the awards show are re- “BRANDING” the show. They just want it to be called “The Oscars”… and skip the fact that this year’s show is the 85th year!
From TheWrap:
The phrase “The 85th Academy Awards,” which used to begin the last paragraph of most Oscar-related press releases from the Academy, has been replaced with “Oscars for outstanding film achievements of 2012.”
NOTE: Geez… everything has to be “branded”…

Speakin’ of brands… were you recently in the Netherlands and ordered a locally brewed chilled bottle of Grolsch beer to accompany your order of “Ik wil graag een hamburger”? Your hamburger meat might be from a local source; however, the beer you thought was a local brew has been bought up by one of two huge beer conglomerates!
These days, the beer market is increasingly about the world outside the United States. The fastest growing beer market in the world right now is China, and several South American markets are growing rapidly as well. That’s why brewing giants like ABI are trying to snap up brewing operations all over the globe.
That’s why Anheuser-Busch InBev (ABI), the world’s largest brewer, wants to buy the world’s seventh largest brewer, the Mexican brewer, Grupo Modelo. Check out the world beer map at NPR.org.

(The above sign was probably executed by a college grad!!) It is truly pathetic that jobs that used to require no experience or no education now require at least a college degree!
From the NYTimes:
The college degree is becoming the new high school diploma: the new minimum requirement, albeit an expensive one, for getting even the lowest-level job.
… Like other employers across the country, the firm hires only people with a bachelor’s degree, even for jobs that do not require college-level skills.
“College graduates are just more career-oriented,” said Adam Slipakoff, the firm’s managing partner. “Going to college means they are making a real commitment to their futures. They’re not just looking for a paycheck.” NOTE: Hopefully, not ALL employers have this attitude toward potential employees.
NOTE: The cost of a college degree is beyond reach for many students, who rely on the fierce grip of student loans to get that degree. After achieving their college degree, those student loans stare those college grads in the face and will remain with them until they are paid in full. The student loan racket is so intertwined with other goals these kids may have that there is no way out once they take that first student loan! IMO, many recent HS graduates have no idea what they want to do and are not college material. These students matriculate into college mostly because “all of their friends are going” and/or it’s expected of them to “get that college degree;” many drop out of college and still have that loan to pay back… IF they can find a job! Perhaps this is one of the reasons so many readily allow themselves to be filmed for a ‘reality’ show ala “Buckwild”… sad… but, no college degree required!

5. Teaching Math In 1990s
A logger cuts down a beautiful forest because he is selfish and inconsiderate and cares nothing for the habitat of animals or the preservation of our woodlands. He does this so he can make a profit of $20..What do you think of this way of making a living?
Topic for class participation after answering the question: How did the birds and squirrels feel as the logger cut down their homes? (There are no wrong answers, and if you feel like crying, it’s ok.)

Who cares, just steal the lumber from your rich neighbor’s property. He won’t have a gun to stop you, and it’s OK anyway cuz it’s redistributing the wealth.
(Thanks to SH readers “HH” “PMG” “cybraxis” and “PDM”!!!)

LeAnn on RHOBH would be interesting. The truth would hopefully come out .Would give Brandi someone to argue with.Heck bring all the HW hags husband’s ex girl friends/ex wives on the show to stir things up.The cat fights would be more real.Might slilence the douch bag husbands and keep them off camera.Bring some ex boy friends/ex husbands on the show too.The show would end with a big bang.
Leann and Shana would get a long tremendously. They are so much alike.
i don’t know about leann and shana being so much alike. from all reports, even from brandi leann is really good with the kids. and they love her.
I don’t think that LeAnn and Shana are alike at all. They are like book ends. One on one end and the other on the other end, if that makes any sense to you all.
Lisa and Brandi would quit first, leaving no RHOBH show to watch really.
I doubt very much that LeAnne would even think of joining the cast of BH. She is a star in her own right and they couldn’t afford to pay her for one performance let alone a whole series. JMO
I don’t agree with her being a ‘star in her own right’, she was big in the 90′s imo but not anymore. That said I’m not a country fan so just putting out my own opinion and my blatent dislike of cheating spouses if I’m honest. I don’t think LR would bring any productivity to any RHW franchaise. She’s too much of a liability too, a sue happy housewife isn’t a Bravo housewife (this is why I think AM has got the Maloof Boot from Bravo, she’s tried to control production and it doesn’t bode well on a ‘reality’ show).
Lots of chatter about Lee Ann joining the cast as RHOBH. I’m honestly shocked at the folks endorsing the idea. Ridiculous-IMO.
Tbh, I don’t think Eddie would let her, too many truths would come out and that’s a cheater’s nightmare! It was always a no brainer, just speculation and on some parts, ill wished for the product of TV.
The Years of Math 1950-2010 segment reads funny, but it’s really not funny, because it’s altogether too true. America is on the decline, IMO. It’s very sad.
ITA. US of A is going the way of the Roman Empire…
It was funny but tragic. Of course you may have heard that they are no longer teaching cursive in our schools anymore as it is no longer considered a necessary skill.
I was shocked when my nephew told me that. How very sad that is.
…and drones the size of hummingbirds.
Amen, gurl.
Between that and telling me what to put in my kid’s lunches, I get pretty fired up!
They still teach cursive in my district, but no books or printouts…too expensive for the school, everything is on line and/or I have to print it – this is for my 4th grader. My 6th grader carries a few items, but is done with homework in 20 minutes.
The UK is the same, Algebra is only useful these days for finding x if you are a pirate.
Ok, for once I’ll be sensible, I hated maths, time tables, adding, subs, you name it. I excelled in other subjects but was a blank white board when it came to maths. As a result, I used to skip out on school quite often. Many years later when I was at University doing a degree in Health and Social Care, I had an official test regarding my dire math ability. I have Dyscalculia, it’s not often recognised but it does affect alot of children and adults. There are two ways you can have it, either congenital (my case, my dad has it and grandmother had it – you should see Dad and myself playing Darts, it takes bloody ages lol), or if someone has been in an accident, i.e. car accident and had a head injury.
I’m just mentioning it here, as Dyscalculia is what Dyslexia was 20 years ago, there is no known cure, but if you have a child, you know someone, or you yourself suffer (and are too embarrassed to admit as I used to be) then maybe it is a route of investigation that might provide results and answers. Just saying and hopefully helping
I remember Lisa Hochstein raving and bragging about that house on the show: “Look at this house, look at this house, look at this fabulous house; nobody pushes another guest into the pool in such fabulous surroundings” etc. – or words to that effect. What happened to all that fabulousness all of a sudden? Maybe they were underhanded and shady in the way that they got the house (insider connections etc.) and now the authorities are sticking it to them.
Love your commentary on degrees. I don’t have one, but work for a very large company and worked my way up. All my employees have degrees along with most of my counterparts. However, some of them don’t have much common sense or any drive to excel. Unless you are moving into a profession field (accounting, lawyer, doctor, engineer, etc), I fail to see the need for a degree for most general business environments.
The most frustrating part is that I will have to utilize my connections to get a job outside this company (should I so wish to do so) because every company filters out resumes that don’t have college degrees. I can’t tell you how many fresh faced 20-somethings that work here have degrees but can’t figure out the basics, have a bad work ethic (or “ethnic” if you are a Housewife), and seem to think they should get a promotion every year. Also, I’ve seen resumes from kids right out of college asking for $80k a year – hahahahahahaha! Really, what are these kids thinking?? And frankly, what are these companies thinking when they prefer education over experience?
Brings up the age old argument: Do you go to college to get a job or an education? or both? Obviously, college these days would be a very expensive education especially if the student has loans to repay.
A few years ago I used to work for a major retailer here in America. Their attitude was exactly as described in the post above. I saw many people in that had been with the company for many many years that didn’t have degrees become frozen in place in regaurds to their career. The company would pass a rule about certian positions requiring a certain degree, if you were already occuping this title you would be “grandfathered” in but you would never move up. They absoulutely hated when this happened. Their whole system with upper management was all about development. If you had someone in a slot that you could not develop(dangle a carrot in front of their nose)then that was considered a failure for your department and they were very motivated to get that person out and get someone in that, by trying to “prove” themselves, would take all the b.s. that the company was constantly coming up with. A person that could not move up would not be willing to put up with and do some of the things the company required, At one point our group became the new buisness collage for the brand new baby executives that the company had hired straight out of collage. They would stop in with us right before they started going out to stores to shadow their counterparts. It was always alarming to me how uprepared and, more importantly, unsuited these people were for the job ahead. In the past the company had moved people up through the ranks to the top slots so that by the time one reached a point where they would run a whole store and hundreds of employees they would have a working knowledge of the store and it’s operations. No longer neccesary. I watched a very hardworking man who I admired very much get screwed by exactly this situation. When I met him he had worked his way up and was poised to have his own store. He had been “signed off” and was “on the bench” waiting. The district manager quit to go to another retailer and when he left so did this man’s chances. He was told my the new DM that he hadn’t finished his degree and was not currently taking classes and they pulled him from getting her own store. It was a damn shame too because, I promise you, he would have done a fantastic job, now he has to watch these little idiots straight out of collage and are barely interested much less invested the way he was in that job. I have two buissnes of my own and around this time they realy started picking up. I took a step down out of my postion but stayed on because, at the time, our insurance was through my work. I would have some of the baby exec.s try to run their crap on me not knowing that I used to do what they did. The amount of what they didn’t know was what I found the most alarming. When I finally left for good the company I onced knew and loved to work for was gone. The attitued that just because someone has a degree is balderdash! Sometimes it would be just as buisness savy to say ‘someone invested in providing for their family who shows up to work everyday, on time , ready to work and setting an example is just as viable. This is something that is very detrimental, it says no matter what you do, how hard you work, how good you are, if you don’t have that degree your done! p.s. I’ve even seen people with a liberal arts or political science degrees beat out people skilled in their field just because it was a degree. That just does not make any sense.
I agree 100% This sorta thing goes on all across the country… then we sit back and scratch our heads and wonder why our economy is in the crapper. pffft. Stuff like this for one thing. Its the dang t-ball participation trophy mentality.
Kid finishing 29th out of 29 in a race, “You’re the LAST WINNER! Here’s your trophy. Good job!” said in my best George Carlin voice.
Yep. These are the kids the grow up and enter our work force and piss n moan about not being promoted fast enough when nothing of any real merit is ever displayed. Its like great whoopity do you showed up good job now go home and have your momma bake you a pie or sumpin … frustrating. And if you have a corporate culture full of people like and the people that coddle them then eventually the good ones will go elsewhere. Best managerial candidate I ever saw was the girl I was talking about the other day that sold Avon and Pampered Chef on the side. High school grad, mom of 4 little ones and she SHOULD have been running the place to be honest. Key to that was she never whined. I think whining should be a fireable offense.
Where I live, it is the opposite. I have a BS in Business Admin, yet the VP of lending where I worked was lucky to have a high school diploma. She was woefully undereducated. I remember her telling a Puerto Rican girl, “Oh, you speak Mexican?” when I was speaking Spanish with her. She was a complete idiot, only the VP because she had been working there forever. Where I live, it is who, not what, you know.
Kel, I think a person with a BS in Business admin would be a great asset to my old job. That would be practical and make more sense than what they are currently doing. I am not into nepotisem or promoting people based on “time served” and not based on preformance level. That is just as detrimental as refusing to promote a qualified person that has tons of practical expirience. The person I mentioned above did the exact same job as an exec. AND preformed all the duties of his position. His Sr. floor manager position was never ment to be permenate but to let him learn to perform the executive duties so when he moved up he would have those skills. He now is used to fill in for execs. on vacation. He has also been with the company for so many years that he has met the salary cap for his position and can never get another raise. I asked him why didn’t he just go back and finish up those last couple of credits. He said he thought about it but he would have to take hours off of work to do it and his wife is disabled and they can’t afford it. On top of that their new health care rules say if you drop below a certain amount of hours then you can’t keep your insuance. Now it’s always been that way but they raised the amount to the point that most emploees that don’t work 40 hrs. won’t get it, They make sure only a handful do. It just is so frustrating.
I know 5 guys off the top of my head that can have Lisa’s house fixed in a week. Lenny will just need to fly them from Tx and agree to allow them to fish off that dock of his on their lunch break. I’m coming too! To supervise of course (cough- hang out, shop and hunt down Pitbull.) Lol! jk.. or am I?
Maybe you can set up a vacation closet at Lisa’s place! lol
Loans? What loans? If your parents make a middle class income, you can barely GET student loans. Im not wealthy and my daughter only gets a small portion of her tuition in student loans. We cant afford for her to live on campus. 4.85… No, not 3.85…4.85 GPA in high school and all the scholarships wanted to know was how much money her parents make. Sad. No, not grant…scholarships. Youve been warned.
@Parkview. Exactly. We were fortunate because both our girls worked almost full time , carried a full course load and managed to secure internships.University jobs for students are usually a great option and give them a bit of real world experience plus a chance to network. The cost of tuition is skyrocketing The majority of students who get scholarships are athletes. I feel your pain. On the bright side your daughter sounds very intelligent and it takes agreat work ethic to earn a GPA like hers. She will do well in any circumstance.
Thanks Aint…. You are right. Whats important is the outcome.
I know it can be costly, but there is the Pell grant and if you go to state instead of private schools, it can be affordable. Where I live the community college is only 90$ a credit hr and the nearby 4 yr state school isn’t much more. The private colleges are 20k a yr or more! I graduated from the private college with only 20k in loans after 4 yrs, and now I’m taking some classes at the state school to change careers, and I am finding the quality of education is actually higher at at this school. My point is, I think a lot of difficulty in affording college comes from just choosing the wrong school, and choosing majors that don’t lead to good careers. It starts in high school, we need MUCH better career counseling programs and help making plans for our kids.
You are so right. I walked out of a private college with no debt but decided to go after a masters and took out student loans, they take forever to pay back. Kids today do not just want to go to the big colleges. My daughter was finally convinced to start at a community college which is associated with the large state college and its 74.00 a credit hour. She has been able to live here, work and not have student loans. They are now offering 3rd and 4th year classes for 128.00 a credit hour and she can get her degree here. I am so pleased with her education, the smaller classes are so much better and guess what, no student loans.
Good for you, and your daughter, laceys!
The best part of the whole thing is I get paid every month for a busiiness she is running. I love it
im a financial aid advisor, you have to have basically NO JOB to get a pell grant… and if you DO get one, its only MAX $5550 an ‘award year’ thats nothing in comparison to the cost of education
My son was lucky enough to get a full academic ride (based upon his GPA and SAT scores) and parental income was not a factor. Thank God. If it had been, he would not have been eligable. And its not like, as a single parent, I was rolling in $s. He also received $600.00 a year for books and $1,000 per honors and/or advanced placement classses. Had it not been for that we would have applied for a PEL grant but that would not covered nearly enough for his education. Nate lucked out as the criteria has now changed and the bar has been raised to a pratically unobtainable level for the same scholarship.
BUT-he now has an awesome job that he loves and pays a pretty good wage-according to LA standards. He seems to be in the minority as it applies to ALL of the above now.
And I agree with Kel. It starts in high school with competent counselors. I also think the high schools need to offer programs for non-college bound students.
And Parkview……wow! I can’t believe your child was not offered more! How discouraging!
Thats great for your son! That is how it should be! Im wondering if this is a Pennsylvania thing. Funding was cut two years ago and tuition went up alot. But I wonder if she had gone to less expensive school would she have gotten the same (small) amount in student loans and I wouldnt be paying over 1000 bucks a month right now. But she is pre med and has to go somewhere pretty good or she wont get in to med school. She was really upset and felt like all her hard work in high school got her nowhere. And she was right. It didnt. Athletic scholarships are the way to go…but sadly, not so much for girls. Ive got a million sad stories about that. But that is awesome about your son! Isnt that all we really want as parents? To see your kids succeed! Congrats to you…great parenting!
Exactly Parkview! But your daughter’s intelligence will pay off after med school. And clearly she was successful in high school….so kudos to her for that! And a thumbs up to you too!
RHOBH is fine as it is, I hope they keep the cast this way. Best season so far.
From what I’ve read Leanne claims she’s not expecting. Poor ol’ gal , I hope she’s not one of these that thinks a baby will solve her problems. & considering his past , she should know better than to think that guy she’s gloomed onto will stay because of a baby. I mean he had 2 with Brandi so… Really don’t think what Leanne needs is a child.
maybe: UH… the word “supposedly” re LeAnn being pregnant is included. SH
Ya, well I saw a pic of Leann on Comcast sayin she isn’t prego, but who knows. Many times they deny it until it is showin or they are sure it is a viable pregnancy. What I was concerned about was her new brown hair with bangs…holy bow wow Batman! Leann, just say NO to bangs!
So true Ms SH. Not everyone is college material. Besides right now having a trade is where its at. The student loan thing will be the next bubble. It’s called bondage.
Ya, and healthcare, with the baby boomers aging and a ton of the nurses retiring. I always wonder about guys like say, Chris Laurita or Jimmy-the-chin-Bellino. No actual trade or profession, just wheelin dealin and griftin. What kinda future does that make for? In a bad economy, you gotta have some real skills or be a professional of some sort, nurse, dr., cop, electrician, hvac, etc, or what are you gonna fall back on?
You see that is beneath them. They think they are the future Donald Trumps, J.P. Morgans , Rockefellers. They are not going to waste their lives in some job when they could be making their fortunes. That’s pretty much what Caroline said. Her kids will own and run their businesses and achieve great success from their brilliant talents. Look at Lauren!
Oh yeah what was it she said? “children of privilege” What an ashhole. That tactic is gonna blow up in her face.
