About Stoopid Housewives

The Real Housewives franchises have become a guilty pleasure for me and I've become intrigued by 'normal' people who would agree to put their lives on television for public display and scrutiny. What are their motives to divulge their daily routines for viewing audiences to approve, reprimand, berate, castigate, attack; basically abuse and judge? Oh, just forget about the above nonsense... the majority of these people are just stoo-pid.

Wish these people would not put out this doomsday crap! Guess we’ve dodged yet another bullet. This is just NASA justifying the ridiculous budget $$$$ the US government wastes on this organization!!

maddy p and anyone else. help! make me feel better. my son befriened an italian foreign exchange student at school this year. he is a junior. her family is wealthy and runs the IT for Venice Italy. They invited him to stay for 2 weeks this summer – take him all around. he will only have to pay for anythign he wants to buy. The airfare was $1500 – but as most of you know..we fled an abusive life years ago. We are poor as church mice and I had no business spending that kind of money! I figure I am saving $250 in food for him for 2 weeks – plus all the running around I do (he doesn’t drive is another $50 in gas. Thsi is his 16th b-day, which in a party and present would be another $200. I am feeling terrible about the money, but as an adult, you never get a trip all paid for with someone taking you everywhere for free. Someone make me feel better – also he is the one that was really bullied last year. This year doing much better because of his singing talents and acknowledgment of that by the other students. Anyway, help. I am going to pass out. I have never purchased something so expensive!

That sounds like the trip of a lifetime. My cousin hosted an exchange student from Italy and the following year her whole family flew over to meet his family. She could not say enough good things about the trip, the people, the beauty of it all. Does your youngin have a job? If so he could help raise the money between now and then for the trip. If its later in the summer perhaps mow yards. This will prolly not help pay for entire airfare BUT it will help some plus he can get good n buff n tan before he goes to mingle with them hot Italian girls. tee hee.
I wish my brother had commercial jump seats to give ya but he no longer works for commercial airline, he flies executives for corporations and a few congressmen around now with their jets. I know what you mean about the money. Its a big expense but I think he will learn so much and have a great time and you are right you will save on that being his 16th birthday gift and all that. We did the same thing for my daughter when she graduated. Her gift was to fly her to Philly to attend her cousins graduation and spend the week visiting. She was tickled pink with that. Had she not gone she prolly would have just blown whatever graduation money we were planning to give her.

Nancy this is the gift of a lifetime and a trip he will never forget. You cannot begin to imagine how lifechanging it will be. You and your son will never forget it. My daughter caught the travel bug early and it has opened so many doors for her. Your son must go to Italy! This is an investment in his future. He will not just see another country but he will have so many adventures and he will see a beautiful country and experience a different culture firsthand from genuine Italians who know Italy’s history , the beautiful sights, sounds and tastes . He will experience Italy in a way tourists can’t.

    • madepiley says:

Oh laws Pitty. Look at your first sentence and mine. We are like peas n carrots hon. Same comment at same time :)

      • Aint Pittypat says:

Indeed we are Miss Madepiley! Sending you hugs. Of course I have been stealth reading , eating chocolate and having a glass of chardonnay in case the asteroid panted itself smack dab in the south! You gave really great advice to Nancy. I am always impressed by your wisdom and kindness.

    • nancyadopt says:

you guys..thank you. I want my kids to experience things I never did. With this wonderful wonderful family showing him around…and its Venice. He will never forget it. He is crazy busy with AP classes and his singing on weekends, but when he gets back, he is starting a singing telegram business :) – kinda old school, but way better than getting flowers. The money would just get spent on this or that. All important, but nothign you would remember for a lifetime. Last year he didn’t have one friend and I was so afraid he was going to kill himself. I want him to see how much bigger life can be than our small town bullies.

      • madepiley says:

I have tears in my eyes hearing of your pure mother’s love for your son. Nothing like it in the world. Love the singing telegram idea too. You have given hum roots to keep him grounded and now you will give him wings to fly. Cyber hugs to both of yall.

        • nancyadopt says:

oh..you just did that so we would all be in tears. it is the best thing I can do to redeem myself. I mad the bad choices to marry someone just almost purely without any human feelings a pure sociopathic narcissist (thank goodness we are all free from him). Now I have a chance to set things right. It will help me heal to give him this opportunity.

          • Aint Pittypat says:

Well I now I am. Nancy we all make bad choices but you didn’t choose to make your ex an azzhole , that’s on him. Toxic peope choose to be toxic .You are a warrior and a survivor and deserve all due credit not blame. Good for you for turning your families life around. Life only gets better…..

      • Aint Pittypat says:

I applaud Made’s advice about working before and after the trip to contribute to the expense. I love the singing telegram idea. Italy will be an awesome experience. So excited for you both. Does he speak Italian? Always makes a great impression if you know the language. Does his cell phone work in Italy? D had to buy an international phone but that was 6 years ago. Email is also your friend-LOL! Wishing you both all the best!

        • nancyadopt says:

he is amazing at languages, and speaks pretty good spanish..so now that I told him he is going – he is working on conversational italian. I think he will use his email pretty much from his i phone. I told him no extra expenses – so an international phone is probably a no – but they can email for free from their i phone (my mom pays for that – I have an old fashioned flip phone ha ha!) The family comes with impeccable references so I can trust a little skyping and email I think. I am also going to make sure he has the family’s business card – their name is like gold in Venice, address on him at all times in case he gets lost or separated, or something

          • Aint Pittypat says:

IMO people are very kind to young travelers. Pickpockets are terrible so warn him to wear a money belt and not to get separated from his companions. He will be fine since he is staying with an Italian family. Your son is making lifelong friends and connections that will help him in ways you cannot imagine. My niece is a CFO for a major corporation and was recruited at University partially for her ability to speak fluent french but also for the two years she lived abroad. My d has had incredibly wonderful opportunities for much the same reason. His facility for languages will open many doors .
