A big charity event in NJ that raises $17,000? I think my niece raised about a quarter of that on her bike ride for charity this summer.
My children went to a small school . very diverse mix of income levels (18-20 years ago) and it was not unusual for a single fundraiser (carnivals, product sales) to bring in that amount. Must say everything was donated. Also chairperson for youth ballet and again not unusual to bring in this amount. As most of you can guess ballet ,while beautiful, does not have the widest appeal. Not impressed.
No one dug deep. Maybe it’s because they saw on the show how Jax regards money raising efforts for a charity on the show?
Are we still supposed to be reading between the lines and we’ll all understand then? Sorry, I have to snicker.
Considering the Liarita’s have a charity as a creditor ($18,000) in their BK, one would think they would have donated generously. You know, since Jax has that $1 million a year endorsement deal. These people are disgusting.

This year when she was talking about Lapband and blaming not her daughter but Albert’s genes and how poor Lapband got his side of the family fat pool genes because she has NEVER EVER had a weight problem has always been tiny and never has had cellulite. When I heard her say that I about fell off my chair. On Season 2 when it came time for the Reunion she walked out and proudly stated she lost 25lbs. had new hair and spray tan. Now she states on this reunion about the tummy tuck that she had that in ’98? C’mon…………..
Oh, wow. I didn’t even notice the white bra. That’s pretty funny. I wonder if she wears dark undies with light color pants too? Every time I see a woman dressed like that I always have to bite my tongue to stop from going up and saying nice undies. And if they have a design on them I am even more tempted.
No matter what, it was $17,000 & any little bit helps. If Tre had a charity event, most of u would say “great job!” Some ppl who attend events cant give that much so it shouldnt be made fun of!
I kind of agree with this sentiment, charities should never be put down. With that said Jac’s bankruptcy documents states they stole over 18k from a charity foundation.
I think what makes this sad is that the event likely brought in a lot more than $17,000… it doesn’t take a lot to raise that amount….. but a large chunk of that money probably went to ‘administration fees’ and other ‘expenses’ to put the event together. People donate large and small amounts, thinking the money is going towards the cause when really a lot of it is going towards the cost of the fabulous, fancy and expensive event.
Also, appearance fees disguised as “expenses” for the “celebrity” involvement. Jax didn’t attend the fund raiser to which she had committed (Thurs. night) for her friend. Claimed she was sick, but was on twitter all night. Barely took enough time off twitter to hoist that glass of vino.
Im thinking this could have been a charity event where a certain % was given to the charity. Example-dinner would be $150 & 50% would go to the charity. Of course, I could be wrong bt its an option. Also, seriously ppl (who are fussing because Jac is supposedly on Twitter all the time)!!!!!!….Any1 who has a Twitter knows u can send a tweet from your phone & can get tweets sent to your phone from ppl u choose, so saying that, she actually could be sending tweets from her cell & answering tweets from ppl who send her a tweet. Easy, huh? I also know she has got a lot of flack for not going to an event but was on Twitter “all night’..I know plenty of ppl who are on FB, Twitter or other websites, when they are sick & some who are confined to the bed for a couple dayz-who truly knows if she wasnt? Whether she truly backed out & lied or was sick, we’ll never know, I usually give some ppl the benefit of the doubt-ONCE

On another matter: Lauren is in her mid-20′s, and Tre had already birthed 4 children and was close to or over 40. To compare both women’s choice of surgery is ludicrous, so GET OVER IT BUBBA and CARO! If Lauren truly worked out 3 hours a day (again, NOT) she’d have lost that weight and built some killer muscles (which would, in turn, burn off more calories like muscles do). Caro needs to STOP defending her child. Lapband Lauren has enough of a mouth on her, and at 26 yrs. old can speak for herself. This last issue of US Magazine is 90% B.S. and the rest is advertisements. Each issue gets worse and worse.

Whether you like someone or not, getting lapband at age 24 is ridiculous when you are not grossly overweight. Lauren IS lazy – remember them working out in their gym? Instead of coming on tv and saying she was going to eat healthy, good tasting food, exercise regularly, and show self control, she got a lapband. She could have been a great role model to young girls on how to lose weight and get in shape in a healthy and reasonable manner….instead she took the easy way out. Lauren has no self control which is evident in her hate speech toward Teresa – she nearly boils over with her anger. Hate to think what she will be like in another 10 years: Run, Vito, Run!! He seems like a nice guy.

These charity “events” are a joke. More publicity for themselves. The broads attending can afford to just donate te money. Why do they always have to get together, drink and celebrate themselves? Just like Melissa’s holiday/charity party. How much did that party cost, and they put the camera on the toys that were donated, and there were what, 20 packages there. What a joke. The bill for the booze was probably more than what was donated.
The Whorgas also stiffed the party planner. He probably comped his work, but had vendors to pay. So, the Whorgas has a big party for which they didn’t pay. Wonder if they wrote off the party on their tax returns?
I nearly flipped when one of them said the party cost $50K (do I remember correctly??) because my first thought was: if you are REALLY concerned about the children and not just an over the top party – complete with ice sculpture of the Nasty Duo – why not donate $40K of toys, which would be an amzing amount of toys, and spend less on the party. Even if 100 people brought a gifts worth $100, that is still a small portion of what the party cost. I thought Bravo paid for the party, but apparently not if they still owe the party planner. Yup, this is a classy, classy couple.
I would hazard a guess that the Brownstone charged full price for the banquet.

And no, hell no, a cosmetology license does not count for much when you open a business. Riding Mommy’s coattails does not a business person make. Yes , a lapband should be a last resort. Yes for your age and weight it was extreme. IMO considering with appropriate clothing and make-up plus a positive outlook no one would have even noticed your weight. You were a lovely young woman the 1st season and I thought you were attractive. We cannot all be a size 2 but we can be happy in our bodies. You missed your chance to be an attractive role model no matter your dress size. You can thank your Mom for giving you holy hell and not allowing you to love the person you genuinely could be. If you have to have a lapband to please those people in your family or social crowd then get new people. If you are immature enough to think the outside can change your self esteem …well it really doesn’t. If people cannot love an appreciate you for more than your dress size or your pretty face then they do not love you and do not deserve you. PS Learn to be a kind compassionate person who is joyful and fun and how you look will never matter to those who have real depth.
Hell, I’m 52 yrs old and just lost 50 lbs over the last 6 months. Walking the dog 40 minutes, daily and Atkins. It just takes will power and self discipline. And after watching how Lauren behaves and runs her mouth, I’m gonna guess those two attributes are lacking.
And, your advice about personality and how you hold yourself is correct. I tell people how much I lost and they don’t believe me. They never saw how heavy I was, because I’m a nice person, believe it or not.

I was always super skinny and tall but gained 40 pounds with second child. My oldest sister had the gall to once tell me that her husband was disappointed with me for gaining all that weight
As if she was not 30 pounds heavier and 6 inches shorter. Karma? I lost back down to a size 10 . Great size for me. While visiting my ‘”sweet” sister at the hospital a hot young intern , half my age, flirted outrageously with me and asked me out. I kid you not. Thank God sister was already in the hospital cuz she almost had a coronary. LOL.

My hubs is gorgeous and old school gentleman he loved it when I told him what happened.IMO people are attracted to happiness, humorous and kindness. Chuckie’s only job is trying to give crappy advice and manipulate the relationships of others who don’t bow down to her ‘authority’ as Mutha of the Century. She doesn’t seem like she has any friends other than her kids, who are financially dependent on their parents and are therefore total kiss asses and teat hangers. Half of her own fambily doesn’t speak to her at all, including her own mom and several siblings. Her husband seems to barely tolerate her company. Pretty darn sad. She is my age and looks a decade or more older due to her constant scowling and anger issues. The best thing she could do for herself, her fambily and her reputation is to acknowledge that she is depressed and angry and is seeking a lifestyle change which includes accountability therapy. I am not a master level social worker LOL, just sayin’.

I agree, beauty from the INSIDE OUT. I would rather be a kind and loving person than a superficial one with no kindness coming forth. Thank God for teaching me that at an early age and my Grandmother who half raised me.
I can concede that people do have medical conditions which make weight stay on. For me, I have hormone deficiencies. As soon as I got on a higher prescription of birth control, I was FINALLY able to lose weight. A lot of young women have PCOS and don’t know that it can cause you to gain weight because your hormones are out of whack. Getting a lap band won’t resolve underlying medical issues and it will only slow the process of gaining weight back on. Furthermore, the lap band procedure has a TON of complications that come with it, but people are so desperate that they will do ANYTHING. There have been numerous instances of people GETTING diabetes AFTER the surgery (because it messes with your “eat” which is what fuels the pancreas breaking down and malfunctioning.) =( Also, she wasn’t like a HUGE girl before, which lends me to think the struggle and devotion could have been greater than it was.
It isn’t like she is working a full-time job AND going to school full-time and taking care of house and pets. I know life gets in the way, but we hardly see her doing anything. If I wasn’t working and schooling full-time, my ass could get to the gym for three or four hours a day and I could have a highly detailed nutrition plan. Jeez.

Exactly! Teresa was flat as a pancake… and at her age and after having several children she’s entitled to modify her bubbies. Way different than getting a lapband because you refuse to control your portions and calories and exercise a little. Lauren may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but she could do herself a favor and take a long look inside and then at her mother… so she can see who she does NOT want to become as she matures. I cant get over Caroline’s mythical “I was always a size 2″ what a liar. She may have been a size 2 before her first kid and then like many women she just didn’t take the weight off. Not judging her size, she’s average but out of shape, no biggie, but its her ugly on the inside that I find so unattractive. ITA, Lauren’s comparison was ridiculous. The whiney self entitled way that Lauren rationalized getting her lapband surgery was such a turn off to me,
thinking that losing weight and feeling better about her physical body will take away her bitter and non supportive feelings toward her brothers and others.
She has no idea where self esteem and good will for others stems from and it’s sad that there’s no-one around her to support her in getting help for what she obviously needs help with, and it’s not her weight.
Maybe she looked physically more put together and made up at the reunion but to me she looked so angry and twisted somehow and for that she appeared uglier to me than ever. Sad girl.
I hate to diss Jacuqline’s “autistic child” (god that phrase sickens me)….but those Laurita genes are STRONG. They are all so ugly and duck looking. Blonde/red hair and blue eyes. I think all these ladies on the show have some serious issues. That aside Jaq is in the public eye, though she may not be the brightest duck in the pond, but any way autism awareness is brought to the public eye is a plus. Hopefully those with autisitic children go to dependable sources. Having a child with chronic health issue whatever they may be is pure terror. I terror unlike any other. 17,000$ is better than nothing and not tobe ridiculed.. Those of you with healthy children are blessed, those that have children with “issues” are also blessed. Every child is a gift from God. Any monies that are raised are a positive no matter how it comes about. Im not trying to be on a soap box, its just a little food for thought. Stealing from a cancer charity is as low as you can go. Of course they would have no problem justifying using donations from ‘her’ autism charity for personal benefit… that is the Laurita modus operandi (see Signature Apparel sitch).

She didn’t mention any of the details. I’m guessing she is writing a book about autism and/or Chris is putting together some sort of autism charity where they both can draw salaries.

Abstract Girl: A solid, humane post. We ALL have our crosses to bear, some that even include children with issues. As long as Jax acts like a victim, though, it is hard to feel sympathy for her. I can empathize with what she’s going through for sure. But I would like her to just BE THERE for her son and attend to his daily needs. Be patient, be strong, and mostly show him love. That is what he needs from her. He does NOT need her going bonkers on a tv show.
Nobody needs to be *aware* autism exists, it is like breast cancer- WE KNOW. How about DOING something about it? Like campaigning for special ed. in school, not TAKING funding from schools that funds aides, paras, and special ed teachers. The schools I work in, some have autistic classrooms, some don’t. But they should and that makes a HUGE difference in the quality of education and care students can get in order to build skills. OR fund research, so we can understand the mechanisms of autism. From personal special ed. experience, a son like Jax’s will need a one on one aide in the classroom, no doubt. You obviously can’t pay (and expect decent attention) by paying someone minimum or barely above minimum wage. That is a $24,000+ (should be more, honestly, I’ve had to change 8 year old severe autistic kids diapers) a year. And that is ONE child.
You have to ask yourself, what IS awareness exactly? Campaigns for specific legislation or policies will HELP autistic children and their families. Awareness is an altruistic veneer, used for personal gains.
My final point: I understand autism can regress, but it is likely that he is low functioning OR he might be showing signs of mental retardation (the actual term, it isn’t offensive) because they don’t become apparent until developmental stages really diverge (around 3-4 years old). A lot of people who have children with an MR diagnosis refuse to acknowledge it and cling to autism instead because it is more “acceptable”. It really makes me sad because both are quite different in terms of care, attention, and needs. Also, regresison could be Rhett’s Disorder or Heller’s Syndrome (both which see a profound loss of skills in childhood but look like autism). I’m not saying her doc is wrong, but I’d wait a couple years before trotting out autism and getting a couple confirmations that this is what it is. Frankly, she’s benefitting from being the *public face* of autism. =/

This! Antoinette, I worked for 10 years with adults with disabilities, I cannot imagine any doctor diagnosing autism at 3! There are way too many other possible diagnoses with overlapping symptoms, including food allergies. She should focus her energy on her son, put a stop to tweeting and the ‘Real’ Housewives.

I know there are a lot of mothers here. When your child was three, did you have time to focus on anything but your child? Feeding, changing diapers or potty training, playing, reading, helping my older daughter with homework, cooking dinner, etc. I had no time to even look at a magazine, and I showered after my husband came home from work. So, how does Jax have time to tweet and research all day/night? I don’t understand how she can give Nic the attention he needs and read/answer tweets. I really feel bad for him whether he has autism or some other illness, or if he is really healthy and this is all a scam (I don’t think so, IMO). It just really bothers me when I see all the tweets she makes in a day knowing she has a small child at home that needs her sole focus.

One of my favorite moments from the reunion occured when Andy was reading the viewer card about Caroline being such a bitter bitch. When he got to the part about Lauren being the same but version 2.0, they cut to Teresa. Her face was so funny to me, I laughed out loud, her eyes just about popped out of her head. A tiny bit off topic but I think Lauren may be dyslexic, she doesn’t like to read and that would explain her mistaking the p in napalm for a q.

In contrast, it was so interesting to see Gia Giudice taking the lead in teaching her sisters Italian lessons at the house. That little girl is intelligent and sensitive and seems to have a discerning head on her shoulders… and she’s over a decade younger than Lauren and Aslee. Say what you will about the Guidice’s parenting practices, their children seem to be well cared for and receive proper attention from both parents.

ChrisL is just as guilty as Jax in creating the spoiled and entitled girl Ashlee had become. In season 1, he was the one who bought Ashlee a car even though she was in summer school, and it was behind Jax back. During season 3, Ashlee even said, while referring to ChrisL in a TTC, that money didn’t buy a relationship. I think between the both of them, Ashlee never had a chance. Maybe he has learned since then and is different with the boys. Its too early now to tell.
I have to admit that I was wrong in my decisions regarding Ashlee. I’m really sorry that I bashed her but given what she was doing and now knowing a heck of a lot more this young lady was in a way abused. Not physically but I think in her growing up days she did receive mental abuse. When she left for CA her own freaken zoid of a cousin wouldn’t even take her bag. Yes, Ashley had two idiot birth parents and an idiot step parent. Her father is charged with felonies in Texas for setting his own house on fire with the help of his wife. He was absentee physically if not also emotionally most of her life. The best thing that happened to Ashley is that she got the hell out of ‘Franklin Lakes” even if the route was ill planned and circuitous.
People may not like Jac’s parents, but they gave Ashley lots of time and love. Especially Bonnie. You may not want to like it, but many grandparents raise kids today. Jackie did not always have her act together, but Ashley was given both monatary things and lots of love by her maternal grandparents. NO, I am not Bonnie, but Bonnie had to be one of the sweetest people I have met. She tries to make everyone happy. She is a woman who has the same friends from grade school. I knew her for a short time. But everyone loved her. She never acted like she was a rich woman and better than everyone. That was not easy in Las Vegas.

Gia can actually speak Italian and I used to do that with my little brothers by “playing school”. And growing up in a sibling set of six, we had our own ways of resolving things (even if it was a little physical- no one got hurt, but man pinching and slapping definitely happened when we were young.)

I am haunted by Jax holding him on the swing at Teresa’s away from the camera. Was that on purpose? My family member has friends on the spectrum and friends who are not. Has always played with everyone at the park. When **** was 3 and reluctant to join in, very shy, D would gently lead him into play with others and then slowly withdraw as he acclimated. I do not want to say she is lying about it. We do not have all the facts but I do agree something is not adding up. Keeping Nicholas on that swing was strange, and also not bringing him to her own autism event was even weirder. Her overtly dramatic blubbering at the reunion was just…ugh..idk. That whole autistic child story about him getting better by drinking blk right before she came out with her People story was also very strange. That little boy is so cute and I hope he turns out fine.
It is sad that Jacquelyn has built a reputation for herself where people can’t even believe, for sure, that she is telling the truth about this situation. How low of an opinion the public must have of her to doubt this story.
There is a special place in hell for people who perpetrate heartstring scams. I don’t get the feeling that that is what the Lauritas are doing, however, I do believe that they are making the most of the sympathy vote with regards to their public persona, credibilty and BK issues. My daughter is a behavioral therapist who worked exclusively with autistic children for eight years. She is appalled at how these people, and especially Jax, are exploiting this situation. She should be campaigning for services in public schools, highly skilled and well compensated staffs that can provide what these children need. I’m shocked she would even have a moment available to speak and be out there.
Antoinette, your last sentence says it all. The mothers of special needs children that I know spend all of their energy and time on their children. My heart goes out to these dedicated women as does my admiration.
You must be a very special young woman. My niece is a teacher that works with special needs children. The amount of work she puts in as compared to a regular grade school teacher is unbelievable. It takes a special kind of dedication.

Jacqueline’s son has autism and one of the hallmark symptoms of autism is an inability to recognize and interpret social cues, particularly FACIAL EXPRESSIONS, in other people. The first few years of life are the most critical for a child to learn this skill. Children learn this through daily frequent interaction with their primary caregivers, i.e. their mothers and fathers. Jacqueline’s face is getting more and more “frozen” from Botox and other injectables, limiting her ability to utilize all her facial muscles to make natural, human expressions. This cannot possibly be helpful for the autistic child struggling to read human faces. Perhaps “frozen face” contributes to worsening autism symptoms in children with parents who have gone way overboard with Botox… I don’t know, but this has been bothering me since I watched that stupid reunion show. Has anyone else considered this possible connection?

“‘(Botox) likely does limit and distort parent-infant communication, possibly making the parent look ‘flat’ emotionally,” says Dr. Ed Tronick, associate professor of pediatrics and psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts. “Facial expressions for parents and young children are really critical ways in which we communicate our intentions or whether we’re angry or sad, and that involves this very complex array of all the muscles that go into making facial expressions. So if you limit that range of expression, especially with very young children who are really attuned to reading facial expressions, then you limit the amount of information, the amount of emotion that you communicate using a facial expression.”
The article also states “a Botox study came out last year that found the toxin lowers a key emotion: empathy.” The study found “emotion perception was significantly impaired in people who had received a cosmetic procedure that reduces muscular feedback from the face (Botox) compared to a procedure that does not reduce feedback (a dermal filler).
In the interest of full disclosure, plastic surgeons respectfully disagree.
I know the overwhelming majority of mothers, Jac included, truly want to be GREAT mothers. Recognizing that there is very little they wouldn’t sacrifice for their offspring, I think maybe the biological takeaway is that if you’re still young enough to have little children in the house, you’re probably also too young to be using Botox.
Now THAT is an interesting premise. I’m not a twitterer but perhaps someone should pose that to Jax…..
Lauren proudly described herself as ” lazy ” was she was doing a walk through of the renovations of Scarface with her mother / puppet master . It was an amazing on camera admission and not a good sign for someone trying to launch a new business . I doubt she’s the first one there and the last one to leave. She’s completely unmotivated-as are her brothers.
A book that I enjoyed immensely and learned so much from was ” Animals in Translation ” by Temple Grandin, Ph.D.
Dr Grandin enlightens the reader on what it’s like to have autism . Despite being autistic ,she’s a professor at Colorado State University.
Grandin’s autism enabled her to see the world from a different perspective and this helped her modernize the beef industry. Which helped both the cattle and the ranchers.
She also described situations of overstimulation which made her panicky and shut down .
She built a squeeze box and when she felt overwhelmed, she went into the box , got compressed and calmed down. Like swaddling a newborn.
The same principle is used in the Thundershirts for dogs afraid of storms. The shirts compress the dogs and help calm them in storms.
Grandin’s autistic experiences of overstimulation and being overwhelmed
are on a much larger scale ,but , I think some of us have similar feelings.
I can’t do the book justice, but, it’s fascinating and Grandin is amazing .
Her mother was very supportive, she wasn’t on Twitter all day.
Thanks for the book tip. Sounds interesting. I also enjoyed a fiction book called House Rules about an autistic boy and his brother. As I recall, it did discuss the compression therapy.
I have heard her speak and have seen the movie about her life. She has changed the face of autism.
Ridenaddyride, I am so glad you mentioned Dr. Temple Grandin! She is a gift to all of us to understand autism as well as everyday life. Many times I’ve swaddled my babies and fearful dogs and have wrapped myself up to shut out the world. Little Nick could be comforted in that way also instead of constantly being exposed to so many strangers’ faces (incl his botoxed mother’s faces), noises, electrical lights, cameras & excitement.
Children who are constantly exposed to over-stimulation and loud adult situations reminds me of Tamara (RHOC) who said her daughter cried “I don’t want anymore people coming in our family!” Maybe Tamara thought it was a reference to her live-in boyfriend Eddie, but I thought it meant more: that the daughter didn’t want that chaotic abnormal embarrassing public life.

I might be wrong, but what I think Ride was trying to say was that Jacqueline is the one that doesn’t have facial expressions, which would make it hard for little Nicholas to read visual cues.
They are darling boys. So beautiful………This is what matters all that botox , million dollar deals, Mcmansions, luxury cars and designer bags do not mean jack squat at the end of the day. Love survives and love endures.

So sweet! Thank you! I have one grandchild who is on the spectrum, mild PDD (NOS). The specialists were reluctant to diagnose because our child has so many strengths and is very social and outgoing. Speech and communication delays are the major reason for his diagnosis. Mainly a severe communication processing disorder. I give all due credit to my D who is devoted to him and his progress. They paid for speech therapy and OT for almost 3 years out of pocket . Thanks to pre-school *** knows the alphabet and can sight read about 20 words , his numbers to 100 and can write his full name and is not 5 yet but will be in January. *****’s birth was an extraordinary blessing and the light of our lives. I am very proud of our little family. She is natural mother and one of the funniest people I know. I am amazed at the progress ****has made it is beyond what we dared to hope and the specialist are assuring us that he can be mainstreamed in the future and is completely capable of attending college. I wish all children had wonderful parents. I wish that we prioritized parenting above wealth, physical beauty and material things.

THIS is why many of us come to this blog and others – to share and encourage and be encouraged and go forward with it. Whether we are positive or negative, our actions define our lives, and we all – including the HWs – need to focus on who WE are and not on who someone else is. Being so caught up with hatred and anger toward someone does nothing but damage your own life — I think these HWs are going to have some very bitter consequences due to their behavior.
At the end of the day, the three Ho’s need Tre on the cover with them in order to sell the magazine. I’m guessing the cover with MeGo by herself didn’t move many copies. Also, that cover is attrocious. Clearly photoshopped, US Weekly needs a new Editor. The posters here on SH do a better job at making covers in their spare time.
