ANDY COHEN: Andy Reveals How “Nobodies” Become Housewives!

About Stoopid Housewives

The Real Housewives franchises have become a guilty pleasure for me and I've become intrigued by 'normal' people who would agree to put their lives on television for public display and scrutiny. What are their motives to divulge their daily routines for viewing audiences to approve, reprimand, berate, castigate, attack; basically abuse and judge? Oh, just forget about the above nonsense... the majority of these people are just stoo-pid.

  1. staceychris says:

I have no clue how that man sleeps at night – way too much enjoyment from being the puppet master

    • Tum Pluckered says:

you’re right. that ghoul just eats it up.

    • Suri says:

Andy has said he often has no contact with the HW’s until the reunion. I’m sure he knows what is happening and what they’re up to. But he isn’t in contact with them for the most part.

      • Sparklie222 says:

Maybe no “personal” contact, but I am sure he is ordering is flunkies to do all of his dirty work while his hands stay clean.

    • Stacy says:

I find it so disingenuous that viewers slam Andy. I’ve seen countless comments where posters say “I’ll never watch the show again,” and on and on and on. But here’s the thing–those same people, and many others, DO tune in again and again, and that’s OK, but they should just be honest about it. For example, a poster above me said she didn’t know how he sleeps at night. Huh?!? If people like her (and me) weren’t watching, there would be no show, so please spare me the faux-morality act. These women are paid handsomely to be on the show–they know what they’re getting into–there really is no trickery involved.

      • Holly says:

Stacy, so much you said is true, but I really don’t think Tre knew what she was getting into when her family was brought on. Yes she could have quit or handled herself better. But I think she needed the money.

        • Trekker says:

@Holly, I appreciate Tre’s fan base and at times (like when she was on CC) like her but she is no innocent in this. She fully was on board in bashing Danielle and it has now come full circle. They all need the money, except for a few on BH. All of the women on RHNJ think they are victims and none take responsibility for their own actions. Bringing her family on this show is what built her rabid fan base to the level it is today and she is using her victim-hood for all it is worth and making a good bit of money doing it. Her whole brand is based on table-flipping and fighting with her family. Yes, she could have quit the show but if/when she goes off the show her brand would maybe have a year’s life left, so she stays and keeps upping the drama. There are no innocents on any of these shows, just women willing to sell their particular brand of craziness for our entertainment.

      • russia says:

THANK YOU Stacy!!!! Amen! Most of the Andy bashing is about innocent Teresa. Teresa will always be a vile, uneducated, trashy, loud, obnoxious, lying sub-human with an ape hairline who loves to whore out her daughters to sell a product.

      • Trekker says:

@ Stacy, I couldn’t agree with you more. The original HW show was Orange County and every woman on the subsequent shows had watched it and knew what they were getting into. To blame Andy for selling what we are buying (by watching) and the problems the housewives experience because they chose sell themselves and their families for money/fame is wrong. He is merely providing what we are asking for by continuing to watch and the fact each show has deteriorated into ugly is because more of us watch when it gets ugly and then comment on board like this which drives more people to watch.

  2. pjbottoms says:

Geez he sounds like the Devil who is happy to trade fame for a housewife’s soul! Housewife Hoe, can you paint some red horns on him?

    • Luvnewfs says:

My vision of Mandy as the devil shows him holding the puppet strings of Chuckie, Meho, Katfish and Jax in his left hand. In his right hand he’s holding the puppet strings of Tre. All of this in front of a flaming inferno.

    • Stacy says:

The housewives have no souls to begin with! And most of them WERE complete “nobodies” before the show. These women have made so much money from the show, more money than most of them could have ever imagined. How on earth is he a “Devil”? If he is a Devil, then all of us viewers are equally evil because we watch the show and make it a success.

      • professor3rdeye says:

        True, what you say, Stacy.
After the husband of BH’s Taylor Armstrong commited suicide, I swore I shouldn’t be supporting (by watching) a program such as Housewives any more. That faux-promise to myself lasted a week. Don’t know about anyone else, but I’m a new breed of “ambulance chaser”, I guess.

        • love nj says:

I think the HW shows are escapism (in a good sense) for a lot of us. We work hard and have a lot of responsibilities. We can relate to some of the housewives (to a certain extent) and it is our sit-com entertainment. But when it gets too dark and mean, a lot of us will bail.
I originally liked the RHONY and the glamour – fashion shows and charity events. But the ugliness of JZ and KBS made me drop the show as a regular viewer. I watch it occasionaly but PT is worse that JZ. Yep, I said it.
A little bitchiness is all right but pure hate is too much.

      • pjbottoms says:

I’m talkking about the contracts that housewives have to sign and confidentially contracts they must sign in order to be on the show…these are like making a deal with the devil. I ‘m not evil. I have no obligation to watch or buy stuff from Bravo.com. I can speak my opinion and no producer is asking me to speak my opinion so that I bring in more drama to boost ratings.

        • Trekker says:

But they sign the contracts willingly, there is no coercion involved. Any of these women can say no but they are so desperate for fame/money they sign. As the old saying goes: you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make them drink.

    • russia says:

The same can be said about all of the housewives. Look at Teresa; she destroyed her family for some lame fame.

      • shelagh5 says:

I don’t think she destroyed her family, I think that Kathy and her brother Joey did… I will
Leave mego out, because she is family through marriage alone.. Teresa was there first.. Actually had to be asked more then once to be on…. Andy said that, not Teresa… She wasn’t interested, but thought it would be fun… Instead it’s the nightmare that doesn’t go away… The family is ruin, for what? Money isn’t everything… This is my opinion… Only..

        • Teresa in no way shape or form destroyed her family. Russia aka Lauren, Caro Jaxass, Katfish Rosie the insane go somewhere else…..we get your message loud and clear….

          • pjbottoms says:

Yes Barb it is quite obvious…I can sniff out their rhetoric a mile away!

          • DizzieMe says:

I agree. I hadn’t heard of Teresa’s family until her sister (oops) brother and rent by the hour wife showed up.
I admit I haven’t watched many NJ shows this season all the way through. Reading fan comments about this, that or other, my mind wonders back on the Bible.
. What I mean is when you get 10 people together and have them read the EXACT SAME chapter in the bible. Then ask, “What is God trying to say here?” Everyone one will answer different.
We can’t help but associate things with something we’ve been or are going through personally.
When people seem to adore Melissa, I think they hate their in-laws.
When they adore Caroline, I wonder if they have GROWN kids & are having issues with letting go & so on.
Personally, unless I see where someone was out for blood on purpose? I will ALWAYS be for the person who’s alone. We will probably never know true reasons for all the mess & nastiness on NJHW this season? But what we have seen and been told IMO is all
gossip. I haven’t seen a SHREAD of proof. Just a horrible brother who is “pu**y” whooped! And a sour Clown face. A jealous SIL, and a VERY WEIRD cousin.
Little Joe,Melissa,Rich, & Kathy started out day one on the show slinging crap at Teresa!
It took her almost 2 full seasons to say ENOUGH.
IMO, shes earned the privilege of slinging a few handfuls of crap back at them!

        • Trekker says:

ITA, money isn’t everything and if family meant as much to her as Tre says it does, she would have pulled her family (Joe & the kids) off this show rather than expose her whole family to this nastiness. But for the money she stays and without her family drama she would have no story line.

  3. If they weren’t such fame whores then Andy Pandy wouldn’t be able to do anything. At the end of the day, they’re the ones left picking up the pieces and looking like idiots.

  4. whoopsie says:

Andy loves watching their lives fall apart and if it’s not happening quick enough he’ll edit to make sure it happens on his timetable. I think he sold his soul to the devil for his fame.

    • love nj says:

Whoopsie: Agreed. I think the HWs know that taping will be capturing all moments. But the editing that makes them look batshit and mean – nah. That’s the Andy Cohen hate coming through.

      • justso says:

Andy is banking on the “housewives” playing into his evil hands because they only hire “nobodies” who aren’t very self-aware. Hence, once they are snared they get lost in his evil web and quickly lose their morality and humanity. Crawling out is not easy and as they get to the edge they are left with hollowness and alot less pride (not to mention family and friends). Sad

  5. Suri says:

This is a tv show. Bravo’s goal is to produce content that will captivate the audience and give viewers a reason to tune in each and every week. The target demographic is the 18-49 yr old viewer. Last weeks part 1 of the NJ reunion was the highest rated cable program in its time slot. Looking at that, one could assume Bravo knows what they’re doing.

Andy Cohen doesn’t lure potential hw’s in. They’ve seen the show! They made the choice to have camera crews invade their lives. How can anyone feel sorry for them? They have decided fame is more important than privacy. Andy isn’t responsible for that.

This is a tv show. No one ever said it was 100% accurate. Bravo wanted viewers and they got what they wanted.

    • vish says:

Suri, you are spot on. And also, these women are in a haze of optimism, all they see is the potential for attention, for exaltation, and for the affection and high regard of the audience, they believe it will be different for them, they’re not delusional, just optimistic, and i assume that when the negativity does arise, they’re too addicted to being watched and too narcissistic to stop

      • mamarj says:

I agree, non of them get my sympathy. When the shows first started five/six years ago, it was just drama between high maintenance chicks. The last two/three seasons have taken a dark turn and if these gals keep signing up for another round, they get whatever comes their way.

        • kel says:

I agree, but I sympathize a little, because I think none of the less wealthy housewives, (NJ, some of the OC women, some of the Atlanta women), could ever find a job that would pay this much. So although it is a high price to pay, they feel like they gotta do it for themselves and their families. I have no drama or skeletons, so I’d make a boring HW, but if I was making 400k a year to argue with other broads, I may put up with more than I’d like to so my kid could have a better life…and my hubby would probably be happy lol.

          • mamarj says:

I hear ya. I personally would rather live without all the luxuries and keep my integrity and my skeletons in the closet, where they belong!

            • SDHS86 says:

              You were raised right mamarj!

            • mare says:

I’m with you. Anyone who want my 15 minutes of fame can have it.

            • k says:

Yes, keep the skeletons in the closet and my family’s and friends skeletons whatever they may be.
I would never inflict that kind of examination on people that i love. That’s why I can’t stand when they get offended and victimized by what people say about them. They chose this knowing full well what happens and their mistake was narcissistically thinking they would be beloved by all.

      • k says:

I agree with you Suri and Vish.
Andy and these shows hold a mirror up to these people and I don’t think it’s a bad thing. These are women who sign up to expose their lives, their family’s, their marriages and their pasts and they would have to be idiots after having watched season after season to not know the myriad of possibility’s that could unfold.
The women who agree to do these shows either have a clear agenda and realistic sense of themselves and so they manage to carry their storyline effectively without making a mockery of themselves like Carole from NY and Camille in season 2. Or they are delusional, narcissistic, borderline etc..and they and get humbled and turned on by viewers very quickly like Kathy, PT, etc….
I guess I’m the only one on the board who like’s Andy and doesn’t blame him for these women’s embarrassments and downfalls. I think his WWHL show is really entertaining and that he’s good at what he does on many levels.
They sign up and re-sign up again knowing what the deal is. I love watching the shows, they are like sociology studies of group dynamics.

    • Mesocrazy says:

Yes! 2 words, Money&Fame. Makes evil come out w most!

  6. kel says:

Mandy hates or envies women and loves to have them fighting or being crazy or silly. Apparently, we like seeing it too…

    • lobstahsmaht says:

I really don’t think he hates them. I think he is just as astounded at their behavior as we are.

      • love nj says:

Lobstahsmath: Agreed. Do you remember the look on his face when he asked DonCaro “Caroline, you had a tummy tuck?” He couldn’t believe it when Tre said it and had to have DonCaro authenticate it.

  7. Anita bier says:

    Right on suri!

  8. lisa the Irish Dragon says:

I hate to say it but its prob true, these folks dont care all they see is dollar signs

  9. savvy says:

Just realized Andy Cohen has had work done. He looks more refined now more of a goyum. Nice looking guy both ways but yes I see some obvious differences.

    • SDHS86 says:

I noticed he’s coloring his hair. Dat grey is gone!!

And he’s wearing better shoes, socks, and ties for a change sometimes. Is that considered having work done?

      • shelagh5 says:

Has to look nice for Cooper….Anderson is on CNN & the talk show…housewives won’t last forever and Andy’s toast then… He will be known as the housewives ho… He has hit the top, he will be going down shortly… He made a buck..good for him!

  10. Dana says:

You can’t blame Andy!! The ladies sign up for this….they know what they are getting themselves into!!

  11. Wesley!!! says:

    Andy looks cute in glasses.

    • Sparklie222 says:

Are those real glasses or those fake nerd glasses with no lenses? The fake ones are what the hipsters wear and Andy is no hipster.

  12. lobstahsmaht says:

I totally disagree. These people know darn well what they have signed up for. Hence, Teresa’s argument that she did not want her brother and wife on. As Bravo housewive’s series got popular so did Bravo’s strategy. It’s just playing smart. You cannot tell me that none of the housewives know the rules. It’s obvious. That’s why Melissa is playing her hatred against Teresa. Melissa thinks she is so much better looking than Teresa, not knowing beauty comes with maturity. She is a perfect Bravo pawn, as are many.

  13. panda says:

There are probably better ways to watch South Park online if you are not way down in the south like moi. But the newest episode of South Park is mainly a jab at Honey Boo Boo, but also relevant for the housewives shows (among other trash!)

    http://www.vureel.com/video/51839/SouthParkS16E09HDTV-GoogleSEO

  14. french says:

I guess Melissa Gorga is getting her 15mins, radar just pulled up her shoplifting record! Hope all this is worth it!

  15. me me me says:

Andy’s statement is disturbing on so many levels.

    • SDHS86 says:

As disturbing as knowing Mandy and his new BFF Anderson Cooper are off in a corner giggling when the cameras stop rolling?

  16. littlewitch says:

This man has utter contempt for both the housewives and the audience what a smug arrogant loser Andy is.

  17. Va Fa Napoli says:

is this a real comment from andy or is a joke one like sonja filling PTS leg with tuna?

    • MyThreeSphynxs says:

I believe it is a real comment. Usually the jokes are so far out there that it’s obvious they are jokes. Although, If the opportunity every presented itself that I had access to PT’s leg I might just make a trip to the local supermarket for a cartload of tuna………

    • MyThreeSphynxs says:

I apologize. I just saw under another post that this is a joke.

      • Va Fa Napoli says:

lol, you always make me laugh anyways :) I would prolly stick pts leg up andys arse…but then again…he’d might enjoy that so… maybe not

  18. Pat Johnson says:

Andy Cohen may be a shallow human but look no further than the picture of the person gracing today’s wallpaper background to appreciate just what he is saying. This applies to whomever is featured as the background from day to day and is not meant to choose one in particular.

For instance, until 3 years ago no one had heard of this woman. A wife and mother from NJ, she was as unknown as any of these ladies who offered up their souls for the chance to be pictured in designer clothes, woven wigs, and make up artists hired to make them appear glamorous.

As it stands now, despite the harmful effects these shows seem to have on their personal and private affairs, they are about to sign up for yet another season of stupidity by “outing” one another’s faults and misery, hoping to remain relevant long enough to keep walking the red carpet and selling their bogus products to the rest of us who partake in this humiliation by tuning in each week to see who struck the next blow in self esteem.

Ten years from now few will remember the names of most of these fake “stars” who will be wrestling with the fact that they allowed themselves to be featured in scenes they most likely will want to forget having taken part in. How embarassing to be reminded of their vulgarity and shameless behavior, asking why the lowered themselves to this level for a few brief moments of make believe “fame”.

Asking themselves “was it worth it?” in the end when they will have been long forgotten and reduced to probably holding lawn sales of unsold crapola just to pay the bills.

So if Andy Cohen is at fault for these miserable shows, so too are the women and men who agree to participate along with the rest of us who tune in for the “shock value” being offered and packaged as entertainment.

Shows that feature drunk drivers, fraud, bankruptcies, broken marriages, fractured friendships, shoplifting charges, pole dancing pasts, cheating spouses, shady businesses, vulgar language, sexual exploitations, family secrets, and disturbed children are in a category of their own.

Andy’s comments may be disturbing but he speaks the truth.

    • Housewife Hoe says:

ITA Pat. I wonder in 8-10 years what the poor children of these train wrecks will be going through? “Hey Antonia, heard you’re mom’s a whore” “Hey Nicholas you couldn’t even talk when you were 3″ “Hey Milania, you were a pain in the ass at 5 just like you are now.” And think about poor “she-who-shall-remain-nameless’” little girl will be going through. Holy smokes these women have no idea what lays ahead for their children b/c of what they signed them up for.

      • HH: Too funny! That’s a great idea for one of your book covers! “Where Are They Now… Children of The Housewives…” LOL!! TFC!!! SH

        • Housewife Hoe says:

Ahh, I don’t think I want to go there Ms. SH. These kids are so innocent, they have no idea what’s in store for them in H.S. or even middle school. I bet poor Gia is getting crap as we speak. I just think it’s so sad that this little snippet of their lives will define them when they are older. It makes you wonder why so many child stars end up getting involved in drugs, alcohol and crime.

          • Brobee says:

You are 100% correct HH. In the end, it is the children that will suffer the consequences of the parents’ actions captured forever on film and the internet.

        • Hersandra says:

          Please, no!!

  19. chickensocls says:

I agree with so many of the posts here. The only thing i have to add is, did anyone ever hear of andy cohen before the housewives’ shows?

  20. DDisher says:

If someone told me I could make big bucks by hating and alienating my family, I’d sign up in a heartbeat. I already hate their guts and if I could only alienate them I’d never have to look at them again. If they ever do Housewives Of Iowa in the middle of a cornfield, count me in.

  21. forblogs says:

Andy is a modern-day version of the “Ripley’s Believe-It-or-Not” guy. He collects outlandish and unfortunate misfits and puts them on display, on display. (Rosie, Mama Elsa, subhumans, etc)

  22. Cindy says:

I love love Mama Elsa!!! don’t pick on her :)

    • forblogs says:

Mama Elsa and Marasol’s love for her is wonderful, but I feel that Andy exploits Elsa and does not consider her health/welfare.

      • shelagh5 says:

I so agree forblogs. That’s what pisses me off about Andy most… He laughs behind your back… Low life…

  23. punkinseed says:

These shows remind me of Championship Wrestling or Roller Derby where it’s all fake hits and slams. The crowds know it’s fake, but still root for their favorite players/teams anyway.

  24. smallmiracle says:

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!! No money would make me agree to that…..price is too high…This is their family they’re fooling around with….and no matter what they may think, in the beginning….I’ll bet they learn that you have to be careful, what you wish for.
