The ever-original John Basedow chats with three cast members of the Real Housewives of New York… LuAnn de Lesseps, Heather Thomson and Aviva Drescher.
The Housewives are asked the same questions that John ALWAYS asks: What words of motivation do you have for ‘the people out there’?… and “How do you handle haters?”
Amazingly, Aviva Drescher pointed out the very funny twitter account, “Aviva’s Leg” as something she had problems with… Aviva says that she was offended at first, but after having a discussion with many people, she now finds the humor in the account. NOTE: So, Aviva found zero humor in “Aviva’s Leg”… and then she had to consult others who convinced her that “Aviva’s Leg” is a parody? Does Aviva do anything or make any decisions on her own? How does this chick make it through a day?
Did Aviva never see a Housewives show? Aviva seems to be totally naive, not only in regards to becoming a Housewife, but naive about simply appearing on TV! Aviva did not expect “haters”… or any criticism?
Reportedly, her cousin, Fran Drescher encouraged Aviva to appear on the RHONY… also reportedly, BFrankel paved the way for her to become a Housewife. Did neither Fran nor BFrankel tell Aviva what to expect as a Housewife????
Aviva’s constant whining about being a Bravo Housewife, her unending fears and her very obvious lack of humor are becoming an annoying broken record… AnnoyingAviva… or should it be “AvivaAnnoys”??

kel I think she loves it. Ramona has to be the center of attention at all costs. Like when Carole shared her book was being made into a movie or tv show and Ramona chose that moment to announce she got her wine into Target. She obviously will stop at nothing to stay in the lime light crazy eyes and all.
Ya and that’s the name of the game, drama. No one wants to be the boring one. I also suspect that Ramona and Luann have an understanding that they will play off each other for a continued storyline.
I think you are right. Other than her fight with Ramona Lu doesn’t have much going other than the baby thing. If Lu’s mother is right and she had her tubes tied that will only last for so long. A fight with Ramona can go on for ever.
You should see what she wears on HSN, when slinging her shapeware! Horrible! Her last appearance, the outfit she had on made her look 30lbs heavier and was all wrinkled, like she just roller outta bed! You would think if your selling shapeware you would wear something that made you look “shaped” not like a potato sack! I agree, there is something about her passive/aggressive attitude that bothers me, and I agree with Ramona about her constant fake smile, it’s creepy! She bugs the crap outta me!

Is HW’s Shapewear the New Wine or Book? I mean, how crazy is it that 3 HW’s have a shapewear line? I admit that Heather, at least as of yet, has not gotten on my nerves to badly. I do find her a bit annoying from time to time, but so far, that is about it. I do have to say that Heather has shown amazing restraint when dealing with delusional Sonja. Had it been me, I would have cut her loose after the Ramona fiasco, especially after Sonja said that she had Ramona there to “have her back.” Seriously? Heather is giving her valuble time and resources and she brings in Ramona to “have her back”. That was ugrateful and ugly! Then when Heather gave Sonja a graceful way out of their arrangement, Sonja again got ugly and accused Heather of being a quitter.
What did he mean by “halfway” married. Does anyone know if she and Reid are actually married. I did a public record search and cant find their marriage records……anyone????

I try to like Aviva but her fears about everything and anything drive me crazy. I also think she should show a more confident side of herself for people that have lost a limb. The pool/leg issue drove me crazy. Just take the dang thing off and go swimming. It’s a shame she never passed the bar so that she could use her law degree for her charity. I’m sure it would be a positive in her life and give her some much needed self confidence.
IT’s hard to believe that anyone has said anything that was more offensive that what her father has said or done. She seems to find him amusing so Alien hands should have brought a smile to her face.
The one with the leg issue was Ramona. Shes the one who kept bringing it up. Aviva was fine.
One would think that if Aviva has been ‘dealing’ with others’ curiosity about her leg (since she was 6 years old) that she would have been able to handle Ramona and the pool incident with ease and grace and just shut her down before anyone became uncomfortable. (Or at least been better prepared for Ramona THE SECOND TIME she went overboard about the leg getting wet.)
I also find Aviva’s whimpiness tiring. People like that wind up being targeted as ‘weak’ by people with no patience for it.
I see absolutely no problem with how Aviva handles anything having to do with her leg. She is also far from being a whimp. She has openly expressed some vulnerabilities, so what? We all have them to one extent or another.
As for handling Ramona……are you kidding me?? Season after season we have watched as Ramona goes out of control with HW after HW. No one is able to handle Ramona, because she is Crazy! Look at all that is going on with Ramona and Heather this season. I think Heather has been doing an excellent job at trying to deal with Ramona and she has no success either.

I agree with you Kate. I view Aviva as a strong woman. Who are we to just her. Imagine yourself going through what she went through at such a young age. She carries herself well considering her situation. They way to handle Phomonna is to just shut the door in her face. It leaves her speachless. I do notice she attacks Heather then always walks away before Heather can defend herself. Phomonna Dahling…. time has caught up with you. The wicked witch is melting. Time to call your monkeys into rescue you.
Jacques needs a nose reduction so he can keep it out of the HW’s interviews.He is there for the cameras only not for Luann.Force the marriage without the baby storyline and Pee Pee LaPuke will be gone.His accent is sickening.
I am happy to hear that someone agrees Jacques a nose reduction and I agree with bot reasons. I wonder if the baby storyline is not just to give Luann a storyline. Ramona now has Heather to feud with and it leaves little camera time for Lu.
Wow, just wow! I don’t mind his semitic nose at all, I like the french and their accents, and I think Jacques has a wry sense of humor, which he needs in order to be on the HW’s .I have no idea what the true nature of his relationship is with the Countess, but I would not be surprised if he was genuinely atrtracted to her. She is very beautiful. I think he is one of the least objectioanble HW’s men.

I don’t find Jaques annoying either…he’s cute. I could appreciate Mario’s anger over the wine tasting thing…Jacques claimed Ramona would have been saved any embarrassement…but it was a crappy thing to do.
I do believe that Jaques is a gentleman and would have saved Ramona from embarrasment. I enjoyed watching know it all, Ramona get put in the hot seat…..she is such a beotch! I no longer like Mario at all, he has turned into Ramona’s lap dog!

My Tante had a double mastectomy and had her nipples grafted to her thy. I would just die when she would ask people if they wanted to see her nipples and lift her skirt. Sometimes Humor is the best remedy. Aviva needs to lighten up and enjoy the life she has! It wouldn’t help for her to learn that she has it much better than so many others.
Yeah you are right. She has many many blessings. I watched the documentary Naked on the Inside last night so much worse than Aviva. Why did they put nipples on her thigh?
They did that until she finished Chemo and could do the reconstruction. I loved her sense of humor. She was a beautiful woman inside and out and she knew it. Knowing your own worth makes a world of difference in the life we live. One of those life lessons for me. I’m not even going to mention she was my Opa’s girlfriend at the time. Life is crazy!

I can’t stand when people use the word “haters.” I’m a teenager and I don’t even use it. Anyway, Aviva gets offended over anything and everything. I can’t make myself like her; same with Heather. I would rather have JillZ and Alex back than the new additions, and that says a lot.

I like Aviva. it’s Ramona’s reaction to “the leg” that has turned this storyline into a freak show. Ramona would have a massive meltdown if her castmates started pointing at her wandering freaky-ass bug eyes. “OMG Ramona! I can’t look at your eyes! They totally are freaking me out right now! Your comment is spot on and hilarious because it is so true. I am an Aviva fan too, but the fact that she has exposed her father to public ridicule is bad. Of course he is an adult and can make his own decisions. Maybe he actually wanted to be on the show.
I agree. I think her Dad “exposed” Sonia’s pseudo sex in the city wannabe persona as a sham. I think he was being himself and was told beforehand that Sonia was a sex freak. If I was Aviva, I wouldn’t have put Dad on the show, at least not set him up on a date…just asking for trouble.
Yep! I agree about George. He was obnoxious on the show. Frankly, I would do quite nicely if I never had to see his face again. But, I have been equally disgusted by Sonja and her obnoxious sexual behavior, particularly last year when she pranced around showing her enormous, flabby and bruised bare ass. There is nothing entertaining about that BS! Frankly, I was happy to see her meet her match with George! Joe Gorga is no better either, with his constant sex talk and his expression about “poison” is the worst ever! Let’s face it, none of this behavior is at all sexy. None of it is entertaining, in fact it just cheapens these shows, which, by the way, are already cheap enough!
I agree with you. Aviva was absolutely fine. Ramona was acting like a lunatic. Ramona’s behavior is so beyond annoying this season. She seems to be everywhere, involved in every story line. She will do whatever she needs to do to get camera time.
I think that camera time is the reason Ramona doesn’t like Heather. Heather
is a successful businesswoman and Ramona can be the only successful businesswoman on the show IMO. Ramona acts like Heather has cooties…she can’t stand to be in the same room with her!

Was refreshing to see Meryl Streep on WWHL last night wearing comfortable shoes and not high priced high heels that you can not wear for very long or walk too far.She has $$ and was very down to earth and not trying to be all dolled up.Meryl is not all about the fame and pretending for the cameras.No surgeries or injections she is aging like she should.Real and very approachable.
It is obvious that Meryl Streep is a woman truly comfortable in her own skin. She is beyond accomplished with a successful career and a lovely family of her own. I think a lot of people can take a page out of Meryl’s book and learn a few things!

Only a couple of thoughts. First I was struck by how beautiful the Countess really is. No breast augmentation, fabulous complexion, high cheekbones, glossy hair, sorry I don’t have Indian/French blood. Second, I really like Aviva. She has a polished presentation, a plausible cause to promote, and a very attractive facade. I don’t see the whining at all. Most of her comments seem cogent to me.

I think it was a mistake for Bravo to allow that perverted, inappropriate, humiliating, creepy old geiser, known as Aviva’s dad, George, on the show. It is embarrassing to listen to the way he talks and acts towards women on the show. I do not think this is the kind of behavior Bravo or any TV show should be encouraging. If someone talked to me the way this sexist jerk talks to Sonja, Carole and even his own daughter (ewwww!) I would punch him in squarely in the potty mouth! It was quite obvious Sonja was not amused or attracted to his filthy, foul antics.
