JACQUELINE LAURITA: John “Matt” Holmes Arson UPDATE… Jax Ex-Husband NOT Innocent… STILL Face Charges

July 6, 2012  9:10 am   More RE Holmes

Though a family member publicly stated last week that an FBI investigation against a man accused of setting fire to his Parker County house last year for $429,000 in insurance money has been dropped, the Parker County District Attorney’s office confirmed Thursday that they are continuing to pursue charges.

NOTE:  Jax is the “family member” and this is what she stated on her BravoBlog:  ”Do you know what I found disgusting? Teresa’s last blog! Teresa was so upset with me that she brought up my ex-husband, the father of my child, hoping to hurt me. At the time of my ex-husband’s arrest, there were a lot of crazy allegations against him. Right after Teresa and I started fighting, the story about my ex-husband suspiciously leaked all over the press. It was an unfortunate situation because, in the end, after my ex passed a few lie detector tests, the FBI dropped the investigation against him. What had originally led to his arrest had been lies started by a fired, disgruntled ex-employee/nanny of his who they found out has a history of being corrupt, including having lived under nine different aliases. My ex-husband, Matt Holmes, and his wife, Jody, are INNOCENT! Teresa knew the deal (contrary to how she made it sound), yet when the heat was on her, she conveniently tried to put the heat on someone else. Deflection and projection are her specialty. This is what she does. She has a history of blaming others for the exact thing that SHE is guilty of doing.”

John “Matt” Madison Holmes, 40, was arrested June 2, 2011 on charges of insurance fraud, arson and money laundering, and has been out on bond since then. His wife, Jodi Sue Holmes, 37, was arrested on a charge of money laundering, as well.

Matt Holmes ex-wife, Jacqueline Laurita, one of the four main cast members on “The Real Housewives of New Jersey,” wrote on her bravotv.com blog last week that Holmes and his wife are innocent.

“It was an unfortunate situation because, in the end, after my ex passed a few lie detector tests, the FBI dropped the investigation against him,” Laurita wrote in the June 27 entry.

Though investigator Ken Dabbs with the Parker County Fire Marshal’s Office confirmed last year that the FBI was involved in the insurance fraud investigation, no federal charges against Holmes have been filed as of this week.

An FBI spokeswoman said Thursday she could not confirm or deny there is or was any investigation involving Holmes.

The Parker County case has not been presented to a grand jury yet, according to Assistant District Attorney Jeff Swain. The case was forwarded to the district attorney’s office for prosecution in March and the charges are still pending.

Soon after the March 12, 2011, fire that destroyed the couple’s two-story house that was undergoing remodel work at 1450 Veal Station Road, Matt Holmes told Dabbs he had been at the house dropping off supplies for contractors 30 to 45 minutes before firefighters were called out to the blaze, according to court records.

Dabbs, who already believed the fire to be intentionally set after finding no electrical shorts or other reasonable cause, was contacted on May 20, 2011, by an insurance representative, who had received a tip that Holmes was involved in the fire.

The family nanny implicated Holmes, saying that Holmes was going to pay her $5,000 from the insurance money, according to the arrest warrant affidavit.

The nanny reportedly said Holmes told her that he was going to buy a house in her name, burn it and give her even more money, Dabbs wrote.

Holmes allegedly told her he used kerosene and gasoline to start the fire in three rooms and that “the local fire marshal was dumb because he thought the propane (in the house) is what started the fire,” according to the affidavit.

Dabbs wrote that Holmes was the only person he spoke with about the propane.

Holmes had previously attempted to burn down the house using a trash can with unknown contents but it didn’t work, the woman reportedly told officials.

She reportedly found out the fire was an arson on May 14, according to the affidavit.

The woman said Holmes’ wife also knew about the arson and used the insurance proceeds to get plastic surgery and help purchase a $40,000 diamond ring, according to the probable cause statement.

Dabbs called the woman a “credible witness,” though Laurita called her a “fired, disgruntled ex-employee/nanny.”

The Democrat was unable to reach the Holmeses for comment Thursday.

About Stoopid Housewives

The Real Housewives franchises have become a guilty pleasure for me and I've become intrigued by 'normal' people who would agree to put their lives on television for public display and scrutiny. What are their motives to divulge their daily routines for viewing audiences to approve, reprimand, berate, castigate, attack; basically abuse and judge? Oh, just forget about the above nonsense... the majority of these people are just stoo-pid.

  1. HaLaLa says:

Very interesting..more proof that Jac has a permanent berth on the river of denial.

  2. TV Junkie says:

Bravo should make Jacqueline retract her statement. It was false and it slandered Teresa.
I hope Teresa brings this up on her next blog for those viewers who have not yet discovered SH.
SH is my first and best source for truth regarding the housewives.

  3. @anita_bonitita says:

Found at parker county online records. They dropped arson and insurance fraud but the case for Money Laundering is on!

  5. GuiltyOfWatchingHousewives says:

I’m sure Teresa is somehow behind this!! She’s dastardly and diabolical and all that.

  6. debco430 says:

Jaqo blames Tre for everything, so does Caro, slander, disparage and deflect unto Tre. So not fair!
SH is the best source for truth, it isn’t slanted on any team, pro Bravo, pro any one. SH tells it like it is!

  7. donewithbravo says:

I’m confused. anita_bonitita states that the arson and insurance charges were dropped, but there is still the money laundering charges pending. If that’s the case, then Jax told a *partial* lie. These HWs are famous for doing this.

    • done: A FBI lie detector does not make one “innocent”… it is all up to a Grand Jury. Jax needs to know the law a bit better before she speaks! TFC!! SH

      • hdgurl says:

You would think she knew the law better, considering her husband and her have their fair share of “legal issues!”

        • Buck Henry says:

Jax should worry about her and her husbands issues, she and/or he may at least lose everything they have and possibly go to prison.

    • BergenCounty says:

Jax dealing her half-truths again. She must really believe that she and DonCaro have a teflon coating!

  8. DD says:

Man, everyone on that show and everyone connected to them, is a crook and a criminal.

  9. Linda says:

Jac is so evil! She sits in her talking heads constantly accusing Teresa of lies….yet..it is JACK and CAROLINE who seem to constantly get busted in their LIES! To support Melissa, Joe Gorga, and even angelic Kathie/husband and Rosie in their shady lies and horrid way to move in on Teresa’s work/ show and continuously bash and slander Teresa as they promised Bravo they would do – makes my blood boil. God I hope all their lies are addressed at reunion!

    • housewife hoe says:

I hope the issues are addressed in the reunion as well and Andy isn’t on the “gang up on Tre” train. There were so many unaddressed issues last year due to Andy side steppin’. Oh and Jax better show up this time.

      • BergenCounty says:

Last year’s gang up on Tre train was ridiculous and disappointing. Hopefully Miss Andy grows a pair and conducts an fair interview. But I’m not holding my breath.

        • HaLaLa says:

I’m hoping he does too.I think it will be apparent early on how hard he goes on Tree. If he gives the other ones a pass like last season..then it is so transparent that Bravo has a huge disconnect with public opinion and fairness IMO

  10. Love NJ says:

JAX IS SO STOOPID. Say nothing about Matt Holmes. Whatever he did or did not do does not affect her life.

JAX is looking at a deposition in a few weeks.

MESSAGE FOR JAX: REMEMBER – YOU ARE UNDER OATH. If you lie, you commit perjury. Perjury is a crime. It is also obstruction of justice.

  11. ChiaPet says:

Once again the truth is revealed here..WooHoo!

  12. HW Bandit says:

First thing Jax’s EX is not really part of the show and Jax had nothing to do with it. Tre knows this but is slinging mud at everyone/body. Was Jax-Chris-Asslee arrested? Who’s husband is facing jail? In for a penny in for a pound bet all the work on Tre’s house has stopped now that she has dropped her bk lawsuit. Need to dig but how many lawsuits for non-payment is Tre/Joe looking at now?

    • HW: First thing: Do you even WATCH the show? John “Matt” Holmes and his lovely wife, Jodi, have appeared on several episodes of the show. Jax talks about him and his wife frequently. Second thing: No need to dig… all on SH. Get lost. SH

      • Jennifer Bell says:

BURN!! I had to create an account so I could say that. Someone got awfully defensive.

    • lisa the Irish Dragon says:

As long as the Guidices keep paying their bills or Juicy keeps having his buildings go in foreclosure they wont face any lawsuits.
I think only thing Juicy is looking at now is curtains for his awaiting jail cell

    • old NJ girl says:

      HW Bandit
Maybe you need to do a search on this site for the FEDERAL charges that Jac and Chris are facing. Jac will be going to court next week on her charges. Then you can do a search on Joey and Lookers lawsuits, liens and how they failed to pay all their contractors. 26 lawsuits and mulitple tax liens. You will be able to see all the people the owe and the amounts once their bankruptcy is made public.

      • CJ says:

Jax will probably have so much Xanax and/or booze in her system that she’ll be mostly answering, huh?

      • fairweatherviewer says:

But…I don’t understand. I thought that Joey and Missy paid their bills. Missy said so on national TV so it must be true. ;-)

    • Antonella says:

How odd. Neither Jax, nor any other member of the crew have mentioned ANY of the financial or federal issues plaguing Jax or her family. I would think that Jax would have done some research before agreeing that Ashlee should go live in her father’s house to determine whether her father has a house, or whether he’s living in a box. Let’s read a book or role play.
Jax to Matt: Matty, will Ashlee have her own room when she comes to stay with you?
Matt: Well no, not really, you see, I burned my house down for the insurance proceeds, but Ashlee can stay in the guest cardboard box in the backyard
Jax: What a great idea. Matty, I want to read you a book entitled “Matches and Gasoline can’t be Friends.”

  13. behindthegates says:

I wonder what the chances are that Andy goes in on the other side and possibly invites Danielle. When should this reunion be filmed? Soon I’m guessing, since there’s only 14 episodes this season.

I kind of don’t want to read any spoilers.

  14. Lori says:

Love your site…so thorough and updated daily. Thanks!

  15. madepiley says:

Before I forget the daily Greggy’s loose butt hoe shout out.

  16. SH fan says:

thank you MP! So much craziness with housewives and accomplices lately that a cute video with the andy ending was a nice break.

  17. Lisbeth says:

    snipped from post:
“The Parker County case has not been presented to a grand jury yet, according to Assistant District Attorney Jeff Swain. The case was forwarded to the district attorney’s office for prosecution in March and the charges are still pending.”

We have been in a terribly severe drought in Texas for a long time. Starting a fire is right up there with committing murder around here. These charges will not be dropped. Officials prosecute due to the danger fires present to the public. They will not let this go. He will not get away with it. He will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and the punishment will be harsh. Know that. (He’s lucky he’s in Parker County. Some towns around here might even consider hanging him by the neck from the hanging tree for this) ;) No kidding. We take starting fires very seriously here.

Jacqueline is such a moron of the highest level to believe otherwise. The fact that the FBI was brought in speaks volumes. Also, the FBI does not release investigation information. . . ever. Their work is kept secret at all times. Any information would be released through local law enforcement officers, not the FBI. The same is true with the Texas Rangers. They’re invisible. They come in, solve cases and you never see their pics in the papers or hear from them. Just like the FBI.

I also question what Jax said about lie detector tests. I think the FBI’s investigative techniques are far more advanced scientifically that that! Give. Me. A. Break. I’d say the fact that the idiot used kerosene and gasoline, which are easily detected after a fire, was how they knew the fool did it. It’s not rocket science. My own local volunteer fire department could have figured that one out. Everyone knows it’s stupid to start a fire with gasoline and kerosene unless you WANT to get caught.

Oh, yes the fact that he told the Nanny about it proves he’s a bigger moron than Jax. ::rolleyes::

    • Antonella says:

I love the analysis. TY! Keep us informed please. xoxo

    • Love SH Site says:

but Wacko Jaco said Matty passed, so the FBI must of said he passed. Wacko Jackpot or Matty would never lie.

Ha, just kidding, how’s that saying go? Just because you say something don’t make it true..

      • missingrealityused2bjoan says:

thanks lisbeth…interesting addition to this mess…totally agree about Matty being a jerk and telling all to the Nanny…something about those two on the show seemed ….creepy.
will be interested in the outcome.

        • lisa the Irish Dragon says:

I am beganing to think that Bravos only requirement for HW is
          1. be a criminal or have relatives who are criminal
          2. be a Idiot who has no common sense
          3. Be a liar good one or bad one it dosnt matter
          4. have no talent for anything.

  18. Lori says:

This dude and his lip gloss applying between scenes wife paid a high price for their 15 seconds of fame. Ashlee has tweeted today but no mention so far this news. No wonder Texas Daddy told Jacqueline via skye that he had no strength to deal with his 20 yr know it all daughter. what a mess!

  19. Whitegirl1 says:

I think by Jacqueline addressing this issue in such great detail in her blog, made investigators take a second look. The investigators didn’t want to look like they weren’t doing their jobs on such a dangers, and hanus crime like arson. Jacqueline this is a old saying but it still applies today ( loose lips sink ships ) so next time you may want to keep your big mouth shut! Now do you get why Teresa never speaks with anyone other then her husband, and attorney.

    • White: Sorry, but that IS NOT what happened. Have evidence to prove how this all came about. TFC! SH

      • madepiley says:

Yeah it was just a case of Jax being cutesy with her words… like when she said she had never filed for PERSONAL bankruptcy while her and the Mister were smack dab in the midst of a corporate bankruptcy.

        • CJ says:

Just checked Jax’ twitter acct. Really quiet. Chris must have taken all of her toys away from her in anticipation of the court appearance.

    • lisa the Irish Dragon says:

Tre talks about it on TV however so that kinda isnt very private or keeping your mouth shut. I do agree however that she shouldnt be commenting on something thats not her business.

      • Whitegirl1 says:

True! I just find it funny that this article came out a week after Jacqueline’s blog, and they even have quotes from her blog in the article. Maybe someone in the prosecutors office watches RHWONJ, and reads the blogs. Anythings possible???

  20. CJ says:

All of these facts that are given by Ms. SH are only going to confuse Jax. Then add in common sense commentary from Lisbeth and what is she going to do? Chuckie isn’t home from her grilling appearance and she’s almost out of Bailey’s Irish Cream. Jax, we know you want to tweet. What is a girl to do?

  21. Love NJ says:

I feel sorry for Ashlee. Her father and stepfather are both being accused of serious crimes. Her mama is a dingbat and her stepmama bought fake boobies and a big Texas sized diamond ring with the fire proceeds.

  22. Pompano Ann says:

OMG, Vicki and Crooks, Jax and her Pyro X, and Nene’s son, SH, have a section for Jail, police and child support logs. “SH Crime Watch”

  23. Love SH Site says:

lol let’s say Jaco is right, disgrunted employee lied.. So the employee set the fire 35 mins after M left? Then decided to buy a 4k ring etcof course Matt bought the ring ..

  24. lurknomore says:

I am a homeowner claims adjuster and I can’t tell you how many times you have ex’s and ex-employees calling making allegations of fraud. For the District Attorney to be proceeding they clearly have more evidence than just the statements of a few people. Typically with my company we will send a claim that we suspect as fraud to our special investigations unit. The investigator will review the claim and probably interview the insured ,review the fire report and background of all those involved. If fraud can be proven then the claim is sent to the Department of Insurance. The DOI will then review and pass it along to the DA if they feel it is indeed fraud. Then the DA will make the decision on wether to file charges. This is for the state of California I can’t speak for how it works in Texas.
So basically if the DA is proceeding then they have some damn good evidence. By the way they probably only dropped the arson charges because they can’t prove he directly set that fire. Money laundering is still a damn serious charge.

  25. kel says:

If Dabbs says Holmes is the only person he spoke to about propane, and the nanny knows about the propane discussion, I think that gives the nanny some credibility, does it not? And if what Jax said is true about the nanny, that just reflects poorly on the Holmes family…they didn’t do a background check on someone they have caring for their kids?

  26. ContraDoodlez says:

OMG I can’t believe I’m saying this, but, I’m inclined to believe Jax. That nanny was probably TRAYLOR TRASH on one of her many scams ( 9 different aliases???) and when the deal went south, because she would never settle for only $5000, she made up charges!!! We ALL know what she did to Russel!
