I think all these “kids” that are shown on these shows get a raw deal. They really begin to think they are stars and behave accordingly. Ashley needs to concentrate on finishing school (did she ever pass her GED) and nailing down something she likes or wants to do with her life.
I can’t hate on her too much. She was raised by a woman who threw her under the bus for a measly storyline. The worst housewife in the history of all the franchises is, in my opinion, Jacqueline. Total snake.
Thank You!!!, she always struck me as the worst mother in the franchise….well maybe not, lets not forget the Countless, never the less she’s always put up on this, “Oh poor Jaqueline” pedestal when I have never seen her show one once of affection towards the girl. It seems like Jacko wanted to move on with her new life and forget the old. I would not be suprised if Ashley has some major self esteem issues to deal with and winds up seeing a therapist twice a week in the near future.

That’s exactly how it has always seemed to me too. That’s why, as obnoxious as the daughter is, I feel more sympathy than anger. I can’t imagine it was anything other than hell living with a mother who acted in such a horrible way towards her. Not only did she not have a role model, she had a mother who basically rejected her and then threw her under the bus for a quick shot at fame. I think Jacqueline’s actions make what Melissa and Kathy attempted to do to Teresa pale in comparison. At least Teresa is an adult and can fend for herself. Ashley will forever be trying to get her mother’s acceptance and love and I’m afraid that’s just not likely to happen. I hope Ahsley stays far away from NJ and her toxic mother for a good long time and forges some sort of decent life for herself, against all odds.
I agree Magdella. Have I found Ashlee to be unbearably obnoxious and disrespectful most of the time I’ve seen her on screen – YES. However, she didn’t come out of the womb that way. The more I learned about Jacqueline’s parenting “style”, the insular Manzo/Laurita clan and how they not only treated her badly, but seemed to ENJOY and get a tickle out of doing so, the more I felt badly for Ashlee.

I think Ashley is exactly what you would expect from a child growing into an adult suffering from depression/anxiety disorder made much worse by living her life in the public eye. It makes me angry that her mother continued to use her problems with Ashley as a story line after they knew she was suffering from depression. Now Ashley is all on her own and still living in the public eye. Depression in teenagers does manifest itself as being anger and no motivation. I actually felt sorry for her early on on the show when she was younger but now she is an adult and needs to help herself.
I’m not agreeing with most of your comments about Jac. She was a very young mother and I’ve
never heard her speak about her own parents helping or guiding her.
In any case, how can you compare her in any way to Teresa allowing her children to be in
a verbally abusive household AND being exposed to TV cameras at a very young age.

Yes, cameras in the home isn’t the best thing for very young children. On top of everything else, Jacqueline allows cameras in the house with her two other very young children.
Teresa does not berate and undermine her children. She doesn’t play her husband against them like Jacqueline did with Chris and Ashely. She doesn’t set them up to fail and then use that very failure as a storyline in order to make her appear more sympathetic against them. She doesn’t act like a victim and portray her children as monsters who she can’t stand to have around her. At the very least, she is setting an example as a resourceful woman who is necessarily becoming financially independent when the going gets rough. Meanwhile, Jacqueline apparently does nothing but lounge around the house, downing vino and playing on twitter, evidencing wild and unpredictable mood swings.

I don’t like Jax but come on Assley is no longer a child and she has been doing grownup things for along time. She needs to stop making it about mom and more about what she can do to be better so she wont end up a crappy mom to. I agree with you 100%. Lots of people get a bad/hard start in life, when is enough enough. She is now 21 and she needs to step up to the plate and make her life better. Instead she continues to use that as a crutch to embrace the “YOLO” mentality so many of these young kids have these days. There is only so much blame that you can heap on someone else. I don’t think Jax is the worst parent in history, parenting is one hell of a rough job and you make lots of mistakes. Her biggest mistake in my estimation is feeling guilty for the “broken home” and trying to compensate by giving Ashley a free pass. I think being a young parent, Jax tried to be her friend, the reality is that she needed to be her parent and put her foot down or in her ass when she did wrong. Not placate her and think oooh poor Ashely is from a product of divorced parents. While divorce sucks, it’s great to be blessed with two families that clearly love and want to do for you.

Ashley did not get a great upbringing. The rumors about Jax’s Las Vegas past are not good. Jax was always looking for a man – and Ashley came second. Plus, Daddy Matt took a powder.
The Manzos treat Ashley poorly. If I put Ashley v. Lauren out there, I would vote on Ashley. Ashley is more attractive and has a strong artistic talent. When Ashley was first on RHNJ, she was slim and had a nice boyfriend. When the show started rolling, she flunked school and got in the Danielle mess – to defend her mother.
I hope she can figure life out. Running around and partying will get her into trouble.

I believe that eventually there is only so much that our parents are liable for. Once we reach a certain age, we are in charge of our own decisions and destiny. Ashlee is just a troubled ADULT at this point and I highly doubt she will have an epiphany and do a 180… She’s rotten no fixing there.

I don’t buy the “poor little Ashlee had a single Mom and an absentee Dad” thinking.Millions of kids grow up with single moms, are from broken homes, have absentee Dads, live in poverty, are abused, are neglected, have parents who are drug addicts etc. etc. Most of these kids grow up to be normal, functioning, responsible adults and don’t sit around whining about how bad mommy and daddy made their lives. I taught hundreds of them who were horribly abused and are successful adults now so I’m not buying that BS.
I doubt Jacqueline was worse than many other young, single mothers. I raised two teenage girls and I know how hard it can be. Jax and Chris indulged Ashlee too much. They did not hold her accountable for her actions and make her accept responsibility. They spoiled her rotten and that is the problem. She even had this same behavior with her birth dad recently and he was frustrated with her.
She has been able to manipulate the adults in her life to get her way and she expects to be able to do that now. Sorry, but in the real world you have to get a job, pay your bills, get an education and take care of yourself.

I would be horrified if I read that in print about my child. All apron strings need to be cut and they need to let her sink or swim on her own or she’ll be an emotional cripple the rest of her life.
What are the odds that Ashley will get pregnant to avoid having to be on her own. I’ve seen it time and time again. Once a grandchild is involved it’s so hard to cut the apron strings.
I have a very hard time having sympathy for this young woman. This weekend I read a story about a young girl that was homeless and had been abandoned by her family at 16. She had to work as a janitor while going to school, did homework by candle light and is going to Harvard next fall. So many similar stories out there; children that have had to make their way without any family or socioeconomic advantages and have overcome horrible situations.
Earlier this week I read Assley was at MTV music awards. I wonder if her idea of making out with John was he walked by and she said hello….Hmm..If she does get preggers he should watch his back as he might be on the long list of possible papas. Of course she could have slipped him a mickey at a after awards party and had her way with him..lol….
