In doing a bit more research at the New Jersey Board of Medicine… DonCaro’s doctor, Dov Rand, is NOT a psychiatrist… and NOT Board certified… in anything!
In fact, Dov Rand specializes in the ‘easiest’ field in medicine… SPORTS MEDICINE!!

“WEST ORANGE— A doctor who specializes in bioidentical hormone therapy and who appeared in April on the popular “Real Housewives of New Jersey” television show admitted in federal court today to getting illegal cash kickbacks in exchange for referring some of his patients for tests at a West Orange diagnostic facility.
Dov Rand, a psychiatrist whose practice is based in West Orange himself, wore a tense expression but spoke in a soft, even voice during his plea hearing today in Newark before U.S. District Judge Claire C. Cecchi.
Wearing a crisp grey suit, he pleaded guilty to one count of violating the federal health care program anti-kickback statute.
When he is sentenced in September, the maximum penalty he can receive is up to five years in prison, the judge said.
Rand, a Franklin Lakes resident, admitted during the hearing to taking two different kickbacks –- one for $920 and another $470 – in exchange for referring two patients to the Orange Community MRI facility for MRI tests.
“Because I am in fact guilty,” he said in response to the judge’s question as to why he was entering a plea.
Rand was rounded up in December in federal bust aimed at health practitioners taking kickbacks in exchange for referring patients to Orange Community MRI for expensive scans and tests.
Those arrested in the bust included 13 doctors, federal authorities have said.
NOTE: Dr. Rand told DonCaro to “get new friends” when she told him how she was feeling… as first mentioned on SH April 22… HERE.
AND… do not expect Dov Rand to see one day inside a jail cell. MDs usually get very lenient sentences and judges are reluctant to revoke their licenses… especially for a ‘crime’ that does not involved any patient harm. Dov will probably get probation…UNLESS someone/something is looking to make an example of this case and send a message to other medical professionals!

It’s really negligent of Bravo to put this doctor’s info on tv, without checking his credentials. If he’s not board certified in hormone therapy, then why even show him? If it’s an ob/gyn and she’s there to discuss possibly being in menopause (or perimenopause), then they’re normal questions, but in this scenario nothing rang legit to me.

Want to minimize the effects of menopause, keep yourself hydrated ladies. No hormone replacement therapy.
Rah: I’ve been checking into all hormone replacement therapies (just had a hysterectomy, so menopause should be knockin’ at my door soon), and even herbal remedies have side effects. Water is the BEST solution for so many things, but when you’re in that tiny minority where menopausal symptoms interfere with your daily life, then sometimes it’s a good idea to check out alternatives.
I left a comment for Caroline stating that if she was going to deal with menopause in front of the world, at least say something about not using hormone replacement therapy. I’m doing it naturally, it’s NOT THAT BAD!

ETA: They’re all JERKS if they don’t check out their doctors’ credentials! I always check to make sure my specialists are *BOARD CERTIFIED* in the field they’re proporting to specialize in, otherwise they’re frauds IMO.
