Despite other sites reporting the Alexia Echevarria will not be returning for a second season of the Real Housewives of Miami, SH readers know that Alexia WILL be returning.
Alexia spoke with the Miami Herald about her participation in season two of the RHOM… Alexia’s role may be limited due to her son’s very tragic car accident:
“It was a parent’s worst nightmare to get that phone call,’’ says Echevarria, referring to what happened on a Sunday afternoon last August, when her son Frankie, who turns 15 on Feb. 25, was riding in the passenger seat of a car driven by a friend from school.
It was raining and conditions were slick on the 79th Street Causeway near the Normandy Shores home Alexia shares with husband Herman Echevarria and her older son, Peter, when the car went out of control, spinning into oncoming traffic. Frankie, whose side took all of the impact, ended up in ICU at Ryder Trauma at Jackson Memorial with a serious head injury and various broken bones, including a crushed pelvis. No one else was hurt. These days, he is still undergoing therapy at Jackson five days a week.

“His progress is a miracle,’’ says the Hialeah native, who just resumed working again — part time — as executive editor of Venue magazine. “He’s eating, he’s walking, he’s happy, he’s not on medication. The doctors are amazed.’’ Speech is the most pressing issue at the moment.
The family situation will not be televised because it’s such a “personal matter,’’ though Echevarria will likely talk on camera to the other women — remaining castmates Lea Black, Adriana De Moura andMarysol Patton — about her feelings when filming resumes in the next few weeks.
“It’s very emotional,’’ Echevarria says. “I still sleep with him in my bed every night. I just thank God he doesn’t remember anything. The brain has a way of protecting you.’’
NOTE: There are numerous viewers of Bravo’s Housewives franchises who are not in favor of a second season of the Real Housewives of Miami. If YOU are one of the many who are questioning the decision for a second season, please read why the RHOM deserves a second season…from SH April 2011.
AND… who are the new RHOM… here.

I liked her first season. Think the production team, editing, someone, could’ve dramatized that accident she had some more for drama sake.
I don’t care if she’s back or not, I just want mamasita Elsa back. She’s a hoot.
i have never watched this show. i just wasn’t into it
I’m glad they are coming back because I liked the ladies that lunch aspect to the Miami show. Miami is such a great city and I don’t think bravo knew how to film there the last season. I hope that the camera’s are careful concerning Alexis’s son’s recovery. There could be too much pressure on him with the camera poking into that process.
steview: Pls read the link included in the post. It explains the first season of the RHOM… RHOM was never intended to be a Bravo franchise… these chicks got screwed the first time around. TFC!! SH
I totally agree with you MsSH. But they deserved at least a shot at being in the real franchise. I watched the other Miami social show that was geared more to a younger hipper crowd, but thought that this Miami group bridged that gap fairly well. Looking forward to the new season! Love Moma Elsa. Glad they got away from the basketball wife aspect.
I agree, I remember reading that and other things about how this show was jammed hard to be something that it wasn’t filmed to be in the first place. I’m glad Alexis is coming back, I really liked her. I know she is having issues with the accident but I think the big reason is to promote her and her husbands magazine.
Buck: You are right on point. Alexia had been traveling between Miami and Atlanta for months (her son had been in a rehab facility in Atlanta)… no one can blame her for not wanting that part of her “reality” to be shown. Agree that the show would spotlight her Venues magazine. Again, I realize that there are people who are ‘booing’ a second season of the Miami HWs… but, hopefully, their second season will be given as much consideration and attention as the other Bravo franchises. TFC!! SH
I second that….they are interesting women who didn’t get a fair break the first go round.
I am looking forward to watching it since it was filmed as a RH show instead of what it was filmed for originally.
ok, what is going on with wordpress again? Everything is messed up, again
Wow, I’m very sorry to read about her son. Glad he’s doing better.
I think without Crispy and the Nanny’s worst nightmare the show will be much better this time around. They loved to brag about their own looks too much.
It can only get better without Crispy and that nutcase Larsa. God, they are really awful women.
I wish Leah Black wouldn’t be back.
I’m unsure about Leah Black. She did bring some interesting moments in season 1 and I like the fact that her face actually moves, or at least that is how I recall it. The others have so much botox or whatever that it sort of scares me. Don’t get me wrong, Leah is nuts but in a harmless way.
Lea is at least passionate about her charity. Instead of like Kyle who had the lollipop charity fundraiser and didn’t even know what they did, made fun of her guest and looked like it was held in an empty warehouse without chairs to sit on.
Great to hear. She was a solid addition to that show!
