The Real Housewives of New Jersey is on a break. But not Melissa Gorga!
MeGo will be in Chicago on January 21 at Spin Nightclub… performing “On Display” and judging a “Real Housewives” drag competition. (Any SH readers attending… send full report with photos!!!)
MeGo spoke with Michael J. Robert from Chicago Pride:
MJR: (Michael J. Roberts) Congratulations on your debut single “On Display”. You sound amazing performing it. Who influenced musically growing up?
MG: (Melissa Gorga) I was always a big fan of Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey and Madonna growing up. I used to make Thriller videos at home with my girlfriends.
MJR: What is your favorite type of music and who is your favorite performer?
MG: I like all kinds of music. I love anything that is dance that mixes with a little R&B together, 80′s, hip hop, I really like all genres. As far as a performer, I love Jennifer Lopez. I feel like she really puts on a good show! She is great when she performs live.
MJR: What do you find is the most difficult part of breaking into the music industry?
MG: There is so much competition in the music industry and it really opens you up to so much criticism. You really have to be ready to accept the positive and the negative in order to be in this business.
MJR: Is fame and celebrity anything like you thought it would be? Do you have any regrets in signing up for the show?
MG: I have no regrets in signing up for the show. My hardest challenge is being a wife, being a mother and being on a reality show. Its not always easy to balance it all but some how I manage to do it. As of right now, I am loving every minute of it.
MJR: How do you stay grounded with all the chaos of the cameras in your home? How do you keep a balanced life with your beautiful children and your travel schedule?
MG: No matter how busy life can get, my family is always my priority. I will never allow what I am doing for a living to change who I am or how I take care of my family. I am very careful about balancing my schedule and how much I will take on in one week. Nothing will ever come before my children.
MJR: This past season had some very emotional and tumultuous moments with your sister-in-law Teresa and the entire family dynamic. Has your background in psychology helped you understand with how others on the show interact with each other?
MG: Believe it or not, it has. I am very receptive to other peoples feelings and why they are feeling that way. I think that’s why I am so quick to forgive and forget. Sometimes having the pressure of millions of people watching you can make you act or say things that you wouldn’t normally do or say.
MJR: How do you feel about Teresa competing on Celebrity Apprentice?
MG: I am happy for her, its a great opportunity and we wish her the best!
MJR: We all see how very close you were to your father. What traits of his did you most admire? What do you want your children to know about their grandfather?
MG: My father was a go getter and I think that’s where I get it from. He was a very successful business man, he was great at real estate and I think I get a lot of my work ethic from him. I tell my kids every day how much he would love them if he was here.
MJR: Besides being fabulous, why do you think the Real Housewives have such a huge gay following?
MG: I think the gay community loves fabulous women that live over the top and most of these housewives on the franchise do and we love them right back.
MJR: I saw your photo spread in US Magazine and you look amazing. What is your favorite food to treat yourself to?
MG: Thank you! I love home made Betty Crocker vanilla cake with Dunkin Hines vanilla icing. Delish!
MJR: What have you and Joe learned about each other in going through the Real Housewives’ experience?
MG: Joe and I are so thankful that we have such a strong marriage. This whole experience would be so difficult if our relationship wasn’t as concrete as it is. I think this show proves to both of us how much we will back each other up until the end.
MJR: When can we expect to hear more music from you?
MG: I have 3 more songs coming out in April and I am really excited about it!
I wrote all 3 of them. Two of them are dance party songs and one is a ballot that I wrote to Joe. I think everyone is going to love it!
MJR: Can you tell us what we can look forward to next season?

This is the same frickin’ canned interview she does with all the media outlets! They must all be given a “script” with the same boring, stupid generic questions. This woman is a HUGE joke! And, if I have ta listen to FOUR of her songs next season, I’m done watchin’ is all I’m sayin! LOL !
I know about these “interviews.” At a business association seminar that I attended, one of the “stars” of this industry told us how he had paid a trade magazine $5000 to publish the “interview” of himself, accepting this “award” that got his career rolling: “[Dude] of The Year.” It was written beginning to end, by him. It was simply a paid ad, masquerading as an interview for an award that he totally made up. And for years afterward, he used this “award” on everything with his name on it: lettherhead, advertisements, business cards. Yeah, “interview”–what a crock.
Sounds like he purchased an advertorial. It’s essentially ad space and instead of delivering a display ad, you deliver copy as though it appears as editorial. The way we distinguish paid-for-editorial (advertorials) from the true edit is through graphics and typically either “Advertisement” or “Advertorial” as a banner on top.
I get paid nicely to compose and/or copy edit advertorials for businesses. I usually recommend these when a company has deep expertise in a new area of its industry, a revamp of services, a new product line, opening of a second location, etc.
All that said — TV Junkie — I believe, and other astute readers can confirm — that Bravo and the HW’s handlers must vet questions, or tell the HW to keep it completely superficial, follow the party line (“You’ll have to watch and see!”) or simply do not answer. This is the key reason why SH herself will not consent to interview any of them, because there is no truth or reality, and she has said, to paraphrase, that keeping it superficial is not to her, or her readers’ liking.
Well said, Robin! I especially can’t stand the generic answer of “You’ll have to watch and see” as well as “it’s in my book, you’ll have to read it”.
I love this site because Ms. SH keeps it real and doesn’t play their PR games. I salute you Ms. SH !
“Teasers” is how you get people’s interest. For example I will watch the news because of the earlier teasers of a specific story that sounds interesting. As I am watching and waiting for the story, before every commerical break they always give the same teaser as “next up…” so I don’t change the channel. The story is usually in the last segment, yet they suched me in for the whole hour.

I don’t watch this show, and not to be redundant, but these rhoc women were on my flight and I can tell you that they looked like an as yet to be discovered race of human beings. It was frightening how artificial they looked and we are talking at 5:00 a.m. They might look good on camera, but in real life they make you want to pray that aliens do not walk among us. The half noses on all of them was particularly disturbing. And since I don’t watch it, i don’t know who is supposed to hate who, but they all looked quite chummy to me. The wierd thing is that people were not looking at them like they were celebrities, they were looking at them in horror. I’m not joking. Not one person asked them for an autograph or gushed over them while boarding, on the flight, or when they got off in Miami, I presume to make a connection. I’d like to watch this show so I can yak with you guys about them, but they scare me like clowns and mimes.

No, not at all. Someone was rigging it for Jax at the beginning. I tried playing that the first night, but it was too much work. Alexis Stockholm Bellino is clearly the stoopidest. She’s never done ANYTHING on her own, including think an original thought. Jax managed to be a single parent for a while, so she gets some props for that. And she’s not married to a man who completely disrespects and objectifies her. Alexis is just painfully stoopid.

People will go in at first to see what is going on, then go back to Macy’s or Nordstrom. By the way, the Brownstone sauce sells at Foodtown for almost 6 bucks a jar. All of the other sauces are 2 bucks less. No wonder you never see it anywhere.

Pretty surprised the interviewer didn’t ask her about her husband’s use of gay slurs in text messages with his brother in law, and elsewhere. Or about her friend’s (Wacky Rich) use of gay slurs. He could have asked something like, “why do you think “the gays” get upset when Joe Giudice uses gay slurs but not when your husband does?”
