Why Real Housewives of Miami Won’t Be Back…

Real Housewives of Miami premiere party February 21 2011The hot, fiery,   bringin’ the Latina perspective RHOM… we’re waitin’!

I know, I know… let’s give the Real Housewives of Miami a little breathing room. After all, they were an unexpected replacement when we were all waiting for the Real Housewives of New York to expose who the ‘thug in a cocktail dress’ was.  (I’m sayin’ it’s Jillzarin… ) We should all give the RHOM the benefit of the doubt as we’ve only seen the first episode… and according to someone or something I read or maybe it was Bravo’s PR… the Real Housewives of Miami starts to heat up around episode three.

Cristy and her good friend/ex Glen Rice

Well, Cristy Rice gave a revealing interview to Miami New Times:

“As the entire city of Miami is aware, Real Housewives of Miami premiered last Tuesday, to well, less than stellar reviews. E! News called it “just bland” and People Magazine gave it one star.  (Hey… what about stoopidhousewives!  We didn’t like it either!!!) We mean, isn’t that a little harsh? But they can hate all they want — we love our ladies because, hey, they are our people.  So last week at the Eden Roc Miami Beach, we got the chance to catch up with one of the Miami Housewives, Miss Cristy Rice. Better known as the single mama/ex-wife of NBAer Glen Rice.  And while she stayed a little more tame then we would have liked, Rice talked about the show, the fact she is the only one with a job, and what its like to be an actual basketball wife.

New Times: You and the ladies are the first Latina housewives. How does that feel?
Cristy Rice: It’s one of the main reasons I did the show. I wanted to show the country a Latina woman, something that has never been done on Bravo.

Doing a reality show can either go really well or well, terrible. What made you want to do the show?
I said no a million times, but eventually no turned into a yes. I actually turned down the show a few times.

You start of the show as a single lady. Do you have a man in your life these days?
I’m still single.

Is it weird to be one of the only wives with an actual job?
I have had my clothing store for about 10 years and I just took it online. I actually just created a line of accessories and a line of workout wear, so I have been busy.

Bethenny Frankel turned Real Housewives of New York into a full blown empire. Is that a reason you did the show?
It was something that was already in the works, so it can’t hurt, right?

You’re also an ex-basketball wife. Did they ever offer you Basketball Wives on VH1?
Yes, they actually offered me that show first. And I turned that show down to and I decided to go with this show. And then I called Larsa and got her on board.

Pat Riley’s wife, Chris, told us that show is pretty unrealistic of what it’s like to be a wife of someone in the NBA. Do you agree?
Well, I don’t watch it actually. But I know a few of the girls on it. None of them were truly wives like I was. I was married for over 10 years, so I mean, it’s obviously different then from what you see.

Do you think they make actual basketball wives look bad?
My experience as a basketball wife was beautiful. I had a great relationship with my husband. We’re actually still friends. I had another side too, which was the wife of a retired basketball player.

What does your ex, retired NBAer Glen Rice, think of you doing the show?
We talk all the time. He wishes me well.”

Cristy’s interview is another reason why my psychic (my psychic? Me) is telling me that the Real Housewives of Miami is doomed to be a one-season wonder… move over DC.  Not only was this a boring interview, but the interviewer even said as much (“while she stayed a little more tame then we would have liked, Rice talked about the show…”). While I wouldn’t have expected her to present herself to the interviewer doing a Charo imitation to prove that she’s a Latino hottie, but for the interviewer to observe that Cristy was ‘tame’ is telling me that Cristy was either not in the mood to talk or she’s bored with the whole Housewives stuff already.  And, if Cristy’s bored with RHOM already, then we’re all bored with it…  Buh, bye Miami.

Larsa Pippen… seriously… what’s with her boobs in this dress???

On second thought, Miami could possibly be back for a second season if they include Elaine Lancaster… she was supposed to be a Miami Housewife this season, but was cut.  Elaine was a big reason that I was looking forward to Miami… maybe after Bravo sees the dismal ratings and the very lame interaction between the present Housewives, Andy will take another look at Miss Elaine and Miami will be back for a second season…

About Stoopid Housewives

The Real Housewives franchises have become a guilty pleasure for me and I've become intrigued by 'normal' people who would agree to put their lives on television for public display and scrutiny. What are their motives to divulge their daily routines for viewing audiences to approve, reprimand, berate, castigate, attack; basically abuse and judge? Oh, just forget about the above nonsense... the majority of these people are just stoo-pid.

  1. WAIT, how can she say she is the only one to have a job stoop? Marysol owns her own Patton Group and the older lady works and the one own an art gallery. She don’t suffer from having a low self esteem does she?

  2. celesta says:

I guess tonight I will have decide if I am going to keep watching or not, Bravo really ticked me off running the 1st show SEVERAL times!
So far I like Larsa……unsure of Alexia…dont really care for the rest of them…that could change.

  3. AngryOldMan says:

Someone might want to let that chick know that Bravo has had “latina women” (redundant much?) on Top Chef and Project Runway. And I’m not sure but something tells me that Zoila on Flippin’ Out is a “latina woman.”

    • AOM: Great point! Besides, if I were to look at Cristy, I would never guess her as being ‘latina’… gee I hope none of the PC police will be after me for that observation… SH

  4. click click/mycat says:

Didn’t Cristy say that her and her ex are not on that good of terms. Or I might have seen it in a preview of an upcoming show?

    • cc/mc: Cristy did say that! Since he caught her cheating, they’ve been on ‘bad terms.’ Maybe he’s softened towards her over the years?? Who knows, but now she’s OK with him… whatever! Miami isn’t gonna be on too much longer anyway, so why invest any thought into what or why they do what they do… SH

  5. click click/mycat says:

ToMS.SH…Right there with you. They all have alot of baggage…Real Faux Housewife did a good on their bios. After reading all that, and not knowing them that well, it’s like one big blur of scandal. And we thought Danielle had a shady past.

  6. Lori says:

I have to tell you, I have watched this first show TWICE. I STILL do not know who is who, and I realized, I don’t really care! They are too “giggle giggle” and silly for me. Their voices seem to have the SAME pitch to them. I can’t tell one from the other when I am not facing the TV. I was really bored outta my mind. There will NOT be a second show for me. It is good to have self confidence, but one said “I am so hot” or something like that. Or one is perfect at everything thing. One show, I am done.

  7. click click/mycat says:

In response to the pic of Larson Pippen, her chest looks like Kandi Buress’s. All flat, round, and smashed.

  8. Albert says:

First off, I have to agree with the writer of this blog, they missed out GREATLY with excluding Elaine Lancaster as part of the cast. I am a personal friend of Elaine’s and I have have to tell you that leaving her out was a huge mistake. She has a lot to bring to the table. She is the all around entertainer, friend, and good hearted spirit that is needed. Let’s face it, she is a total blast.

Secondly, being partly from Miami and then watching what was picked to represent Miami, I am almost embarrassed to say I am from there. What happens to the girls of these shows as a season starts? Do they just seem to get stupid or think that being that way on TV makes them look ummmmm intelligent? No…lets clear that up IT DOESN’T. It’s almost embarrassing at times.

All I can say is that please don’t do a Housewives of Las Vegas, because if so I will have to move. LOL

    • Albert: Thanks for commenting! It’s great to hear from a friend of Elaine’s… she was all the talk before the show debuted and then at the last minute, she’s not on the show and not a word about her. Elaine is the part that is missing so desperately from RHOM. Andy is pushing Marysol’s mother, Elsa, as the ‘hidden star’ of the show, but as far as I’m concerned, she’s just cringe-worthy when she’s on screen…. I don’t know what Andy sees in her. Oh well! Please let Elaine know that this site is a big fan of hers and hope she appears on Bravo soon (I say that because IMO, it’s doubtful that RHOM will have a second season). As fas as a RH of LV, if Bravo adds another franchise to their already bloated HW schedule, they will have definitely jumped the shark. SH

      • Lori says:

SH I have to agree about the Elsa, I see nothing really special about her. Her sound bites seems so contrived. Her accent only makes her ‘different’.

Andy is weird about his favs. He really thinks NeNe is a “black Lucille Ball”. UGH What an insult to the fabulous icon of comedy!

    • Lori says:

Oh Albert, I am in LV too! I surely hope they don’t make one from here! I would have to move WITH you . LOL Andy Cohen did say, not long ago, Bravo was ‘still’ looking in Dallas for Texas HW. Oh brother. Oh dear.

Elaine appears to be a real riot! I agree SH, she seems to have been a great addition. At least SOMEONE would be interesting on that show, they are batting ZERO with the cast now.

  9. GiggyLover says:

I was soooo wondering about Elaine Lancaster when I watched the premiere. I knew that there was a man/woman (no disrespect! just not sure of correct term) scheduled to be on the show and I was trying to figure out who it was for the entire episode. I thought it was Lea (sorry, Lea!) right off the bat… I can’t believe they pulled her at the last second like that!
P.S. Did you see WWHL last night? I thought it was great when Lea called to tell Cristy off and then hung up! I don’t like Cristy AT ALL.

    • Giggy: Just watched it and have to say that I love Lea Black!!! Especially love that Lea hung up on her!!! I love people who are not afraid to state their case… especially when they’ve been blasted all over town as the ‘bad guy.’ Cristy was making up stories as to why she was late on the way into the Black Gala, and was cruising around from table to table like she’d been there for hours… poser!!! Andy, for some reason, just loves the older women on the HWs shows… Cynthia’s mother, Kandi’s mother and now he wants to make Elsa the ‘breakout star’ of RHOM. Give it a rest, Andy! SH

    • celesta says:

that was great! Called her on it, and stood up for herself. I will tune in again just because it looks like a trainwreck! Changed my mind about Alexia and Larsa –thumbs down big time! Lea is wacho (vocal) but actually has something to give

  10. click click/mycat says:

To GiggyLover, We all know the break out star was Giggy. Elsa is one big mess. I watched WWHL and loved it when Lea called out Cristy. Miss Andy seemed shocked when she slammed her phone down. I like that she stated her case and didn’t argue with that Twit/Christy.

  11. click click/mycat says:

To MS.SH, Miss Andy has a mommy fetish. He said he was a momma’s boy.

  12. EyeNsky says:

I have to say after the Beverly Hills level of glitz & NJ level of gutter trash a show that is mediocre at best seems as if there is no chance of survival. The only saving grace or component which sets this one a part was the impending arrival of the goddess, Elaine Lancaster which reports read she was edited from the show because the “housewives” were confident she would run away with the show. Well from what I’ve seen in the
first two show it would not be hard to do. The star so far is Miami herself. The aerial shots are wonderful but the lackluster cast is truly a disappointment to most of us loyal viewers. Elaine must have her own show either on Bravo or another network because the little amount of airtime she receives gets the blogs going.

    Thanks for your time.

    • Eye: Thanks for commenting! Totally agree with every word you wrote… Andy is so wrong about his prediction that Elsa will be the breakout star of RHOM. Despite having her appearances on RHOM chopped down to cameos, my prediction is that Elaine will be the breakout star. I’m also predicting that RHODC will have a buddy in the ‘One Season’ category in Andy’s file drawer, because RHOM won’t go beyond one season… as I’ve stated before, the only way RHOM will have a second season would be to re-cast and include Elaine Lancaster for the second season. Damn! I just wasted keystrokes and a bit of time, ’cause Miami will be saying ‘hello’ to DC soon… SH

  13. click click/mycat says:

Maybe the other housewives were feeling insecure because Elaine is better looking than all the RHOM.
