Deadbeat Slade
Slade Smiley, boyfriend of Real Housewives of Orange County‘s Gretchen Rossi owes $138,857.64 in child support, according to court documents and Costa Mesa resident Jennifer Young, who runs the website mostwanteddeadbeats.com.
Smiley was scheduled to appear in a Los Angeles courtroom last week (2-9-11) to address payments he owes to ex-girlfriend Michelle Arroyo. They are the parents of Grayson Arroyo-Smiley, 10, who has a rare form of brain cancer called diffuse fibrillary astrocytoma.
However, Arroyo notified the court that the boy was sick and in the hospital today, so it’s unclear if the hearing took place. Smiley, 42, has seen his child-support debts balloon from $84,962 to more than $138,850 because of interest owed on arrears — unpaid or overdue payments.
“Once you fall behind, and he’s fallen behind for so long, the interest is what typically makes it impossible to pay back,” said Young, a child-support advocate who has also been through the experience of not receiving child-support payments owed by a so-called deadbeat father.
According to court documents, Smiley also had his driver’s license suspended on Jan. 8 because of delinquent child support. However, he has been spotted around Costa Mesa, where he lives with Gretchen, and Orange County driving in a powder-blue Mercedes Benz and a black Range Rover. Young, who lives a few blocks away from Smiley and Rossi, says she has personally seen him driving around the neighborhood while his license has been suspended.
Smiley could not be reached for comment.
Last but not least, a judge recently ordered Smiley to seek work outside of the entertainment/TV or title industries, because he’s been unable to obtain money through those ventures for extended periods of time.
Smiley was first introduced to “Real Housewives” audiences as the fiancé of Jo De La Rosa, who was a Coto de Caza “housewife” in waiting during the first two seasons. After Smiley and De La Rosa broke up, Smiley briefly dated Lauri Waring, another cast member, who eventually married George Peterson and became Lauri Peterson. Smiley and Rossi started dating between seasons 4 and 5, and he was revealed as Rossi’s new boyfriend at the beginning of season 5.
I read that Slimey’s son Grayson will appear on Glee when they go visit a hospital. I think it’s this Sunday. If I was Jennifer, and I saw him driving, I’d video tape it and give it to the cops in her neighborhood. I wish him nothing but the worst. And please don’t make us sit through another boring, long wedding.

To MS.SH, I read about Grayson on Absurd to Sublime. It says Tuesday, but I don’t know if it’s this Tues. or next. I wonder if Slimey will be there with his son all Smiley, as he and Gretchen visit childrens hospitals to cheer them up. He should go to jail, like most dead beat dads. Then Gretchen will come up with the money to get him out and the ex will have what is rightfully hers. Remember when he was posing in that big house with Jo? He bought all those expensive costumes? He probably still has them in storage. Sell those , Slimey. And, have you seen the commercial on TV with Gretchen plugging a tax preparers business? She’s wearing the same one shoulder red dress that is shown in the season 6 preview. In the dress, she is saying, “Paybacks a Bitch” …I think that’s what she says. It’s as corney as Tree’s tanning ad.

I am disgusted after seeing this information on Slade. I always knew he was a shady one, but the depths of his heartlessness and shameless fame whoring are no match to this story. He should be ashamed of himself and I truly hope he is held accountable for his sons hospital bills and arrested for his owed child support! What a slimeball!!

I just watched Glee and I didn’t know which one was Grayson. For that MF to not help with his own sick child, literally bought tears to my eyes. The mother probably doesn’t even want him and Gretchen there. Throw him in Front of the Bus. Thank you Glee and Fox TV for not making any of us have to look at that slime. People need to see this and realize what an awful person he truly is…and I protest not to watch RHOOC if he is on it. Please MS.SH, verify which one was Grayson. I think I know, if he really was on Glee.
Furthermore, the judge should see how sick this child really is. I’m so enraged!!!
